The Galra. They always ruined everything. Well, the Glara Empire that is.
Haggard and her minions were 'recharging' Zarkon. I rolled my eyes at the horrid ruler.
"Sire, the beast is almost to Arus," she told him.
Ignoring her,"This Quintessence gives me so much power, I could fight the Paladins myself," he said, clenching his fists.
"There is no need. My creature will destroy them and capture the Voltron lions for you. Then, the most powerful weapon of the universe will be ours," she hissed with an evil grin.
"Great job training today, guys. We're really getting the hang of Voltron," Shiro praised.
"Seriously, how far do you think my lion kicked that broken alien ship? Must have been like a mile," Lance boasted, as usual.
"Yeah, that'll come in handy when the Glara challenges Voltron to a soccer match," Keith said, glaring at the blue paladin.
"Hey, I did something cool and you can't handle it. I get it," the olive skimmed boy smirked.
"Your kick ruined our balance. We fell," the mullet head shot back.
"That part was Hunk's fault," Lance protested.
"Hey!" Hunk shouted.
"All right, save your energy for fighting Zarkon," Shiro scolded, plopping down in a seat.
"Hello guys! How was the Voltron workout?" Coran said as he and I walked into the room.
"We're getting there," Shiro said. "Are you and Allura almost done fixing the castle so we can leave this planet? I feel like we're sitting ducks here on Arus," he continued.
"Just about. In the meantime, to get your mind off those duck seats you're worried about, I made you guys and authentic ancient paladin lunch!" Coran exclaimed, lifting the Paladins' spirits and the lid off the platter he carried in. But they ended up all groaning, I also tried to be as polite as I could and just wrinkled my nose.
"Coran, you just got me hooked on that goo and now you're switching it up?" Hunk complained.
"This is packed is nutrients," the mustacheio informed.
Hunk went up and sniffed it,"Oh, it smells disgusting!" He continued to complain.
Coran sniffed and sighed in pleasure. "I know! That's how you know it's healthy!" He chirped.
Lance plugged his nose and him, Keith, and I all began to walk away.
"Coran, we're on the planet with fresh herbs, spices, and whatever this thing is. A tuber?" Hunk questioned, pulling out a little plant thing. "If you'll excuse me, I'm going to head back to the kitchen and spice things up," Hunk said, walking off.
"Where's Pidge?" Shiro questioned.
"He's," she's,"probably checking on those prisoners we rescued from Zarkon. They'll all be waking soon in the infirmary," Coran said with a mouth full that thing he 'cooked'. Shiro began to stand up when Coran stuck a sporkfull of it in his face. "Open the hatch. Food lion coming in!" He said, flying the food in as he imitated the sound of an airplane.
Shiro groaned and tried his best to avoid the goop. "No. Just... No," he says as he walked away.
"You don't know what you're missing!" Coran shouted at him.
And off I went to go see my sandy-haired friend, running up next to Shiro.
"Hey Shiro," I said as I caught up to him.
"Oh, hey Kiona! How are you holding up?"
"I'm doing--fine. But I should be asking you that. You seem like you've been having a rough time," I said with a concerned tone and face.
He sighed. "I guess. It's not just all the stress of leading the team and defeating Zarkon though. It's also about- Pidge," Shiro said, hesitating before he said the undercover name.
"It's Katie, but you already know that," I stated blankly. He looked at me with shock for a second, then with concentration.
"You're that girl! I knew I recognized you! You were with Matt and Katie the day of the launch. You took their picture even though they begged you to stand with them, but you insisted that they wouldn't want you in the picture. And it took you forever to get it to 'perfection'," he laughed. "That was a fun and exciting day," he smiled.
"Yeah, if you say so... For me, it was a day of sadness and lies. I am unfortunately reminded of it constantly too..," I rambled off.
"I'm sorry, I didn't-"
"No it's fine. It was fun, it was just an unsettling day for Katie and I. She just missed and misses Matt and her dad a lot," I said, looking back at him. "And Shiro, whatever she says, it's not your fault. You didn't do anything wrong," I told him.
"Thank you, Kiona. You're a great friend. I'm glad you're here. Thanks for giving us the light in our darkness. I know it's cheesy, but it's true," he said getting all nervous.
I laughed,"No no, I live for cheese," I said wiping an imaginary tear and sighed. "Thanks Shiro. It means a lot," I said smiling up at him, ear to ear.
He placed his robotic arm on my shoulder and smiled happily as we were about to walk into the infirmary.
