I held my breath as we walked into the large dark room. My heart threatened to leap out of my chest. How did one react when facing the killer of her father? I didn't know. It was too soon and yet not soon enough. I was scared and yet angry enough to ignore that irritating voice in my head that told me to stay away from the room. I wanted blood and by the sounds emanating from the room, I was going to get it.
"Are you ready?" Antonio asked, staring at me curiously.
I nodded.
"Yeah."
"Are you sure?" He asked again.
"I'm certain, Antonio. Quit worrying and show me the man who stole my father away from me."
"I think you already know him," he said before leading me further into the room.
I gasped loudly when I saw uncle Vincente tied up on a chair and covered in blood with bruises littered all over his body.
"Uncle Vincente," I whispered, then turned to Antonio. "What is the meaning of this?"
"Irene..."
"Why the hell is my uncle tied up in your basement?" I interrupted.
"You asked for your father's killer and I delivered him to you," he said.
"Vincente... you're lying. I know you're lying!"
I was hysterical. How dare he accuse my uncle of murdering his own brother. How dare him? I punched his chest again and again.
He griped my shoulder tightly and drew me close to his body.
"Do you think I'll lie about something as delicate as this?" He asked. "I know what it feels like to be betrayed by family. I know how it feels damnit!" He let go of me.
"I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on anyone.""Antonio..." I began to say but he interrupted me.
"You asked for your father's killer," he said, "here he is."
He walked out leaving me alone with an unconscious uncle Vincente and the two men wielding leather belts and a metal rod.
Very short update. I didn't have time to write more. I'll update again on Sunday.
