Lucas barged into my room holding a gun up in the air.
"Mistress," he said, scanning the room with watchful eyes, "I heard voices."
"I was sleep talking," I said impulsively.
"It was pretty loud," he said, frowning in suspicion as he looked at me.
"Well, yes. Of course it was. Sleep talking remember?"
"Right." He opened the door and gestured for me to walk out.
"I don't believe you," he said as we descended the stairs leading to the living room.
I paused."There was someone else," he continued, staring intently at me. "There was a man with you."
"Luca..."
"I'm going to inform your grandfather."
I held onto his arm. "Please. You know how he would react."
He looked at the spot where my hand touched his arm. There was a clash of colours. His pale arm against my darker one.
"Tell me," he said, "who was in the room with you?"
I looked around afraid someone would hear what I had to say.
"You won't tell anyone if I tell you who it was, right?"
"If you tell me the truth, no one will know what was said between us."
"It was uhhh..." I looked at the silver cross hanging around his neck.
"Antonio.""Antonio?" He asked. His voice was so cold.
I nodded. "I don't know how he managed to enter the house."
Luca turned and started to walk down the stairs.
"Lucas," I rushed after him. "Wait."
I tripped on the last stair and slammed into his back sending both of us tumbling down to the floor.
