Antonio walked me upstairs to my room. We were both wet to the core and trails of water and sand lay behind us.

"The maids are going to be so pissed," I said to him as we stood outside my door, with our clothes in our arms.

"They'll spend the whole day gossiping and giggling like children," he said.

He stared at me for a while. I wondered what was going on through his mind. What was he thinking? What made his earthy eyes glint dangerously.

"I want to kiss you, Irene. I want to kiss you so damn bad," he said softly.

"Do it."

He leaned in close, his lips almost touching mine.

"Couldn't you do this somewhere else?" Claudia asked as she leaned against the open door. "Preferably in your room."

Antonio pulled back, his eyes glinting dangerously.

"Get the fuck out of here," he growled.

"Don't fucking growl at me Antonio. It's not my fault you chose to make a move in the hallway."

"You fucking..."

"Antonio," I said softly, "I had a nice time with you. Maybe next time, we could kiss goodnight in my room."

He glared at Claudia before turning to me. His face softened.

"I wish you a good night, Irene."

"Good night Antonio. Sleep tight."

I watched him walk away before turning to Claudia.

"You're such a cockblocker," I said, walking into to my room.

"Forget it. How was the date?"

"I'm tired Claudia. I'll tell you tomorrow."

She stood and stretched. "Good night then." She walked to the door, "by the way, your mother called."

I froze. How the hell did I forget the phone?

I picked up the phone from the bed and stared at the screen wondering if I should call back.

I swallowed heavily before swiping the screen and calling her number.

I paced as I waited for the call to go through. She picked up on the second ring.

"Hello," she said. "It's about time you called."

"Sorry," I said, "I was busy."

"Too busy for your own mother?"

"I went out on a date, mama. But that's besides the point. Why did you call?"

"Your uncle Paulo has placed a hit on your head. On both our heads. Stay indoors from now on Irene."

I slump on the bed holding on to my bed, holding the phone close to my ear.

"Are you safe?" I asked.

"I'm alright. Don't worry about me, worry about yourself."

"I'm scared, mama. I don't know how to handle this."

"I'm working on solving this entire mess. Finding your father's killer and working out who ended your grandfather's life."

She breathed in deep before sighing loudly.

"We're going to get through this," she said. "And we're going to make it out alive."

"I hope so. I really, really hope so."

It's really short. It will get longer. I hope...
