I stared at his suit clad retreating back. What did he mean by that?

"Luca," I said as they led me back to the black BMW. "Who is that man?" Why do we have to go back home?" I asked. "What is going on?"

"He is none of your business," he growled. Silva opened the door and looked at me expectantly.
Did he seriously think that I'll get into the car when I hadn't even bought a single thing on my list.

"I'm not going anywhere."

Lucas growled and run his hand through his hair. I bit my lip in an effort to stop laughing. He looked frustrated.
I turned to walk back to the mall when screams and gunshots reached my ear. Luca pushed me into the car and shut the door behind us. He pulled out his gun and looked out the window as Silva drove away on top speed.

"What is happening?"

"Keep your head down," he growled, pushing my head onto the leather seat.

"Drive faster, Silva, they are right behind us," Luca said as he shot out the window. A bullet pierced the car from behind.
"Cazzo di cane," he grunted. "Of all the fucking days to leave the house unprotected, we choose today to leave the bullet proof cars behind." He dropped his gun and clutched his shoulder. "This is fucking useless. They are in a bulletproof car. Drive faster, Silva. We need to outrun them."

"I'm trying, damnit," Silva growled as he swerved through the traffic.

I pulled out my phone and dialled mama. If anyone could help us, it was her.

"We need help, mama," I said. "Someone is trying to kill us."

Luca snatched the phone from me.
"We are almost home, lady Antoinette."
A pause.
"Yes, she's safe."
Another pause.
"I understand."
He hung up and tossed the phone to me.

I peeped out the window and saw the looming structure of the De Laurentis mansion. Luca was right. No one would follow us now no matter how mad they were.
The black car trailing us pulled back as we entered De Laurentis territory.

Mama pulled me into a hug and littered my face with kisses when we pulled up in compound.

"Luca, Silva, meet me in the study," grand papa said. His eyes scanned me for injuries before he patted me on the shoulder.

"You are not leaving the house until everything has been sorted out, child."

I nodded. I don't think I could leave this house ever after my experience today.

My eyes zeroed in on the still bleeding wound on Luca's shoulder.

"See Carlos after grandpapa is done talking to you. Tell him I sent you," I said.
He nodded.
"Thank you, sigñorita," he said.

"Come," mama said, leading me into the house. "You'll take a warm bath."
She pointed at the nearest maid.
"Warm milk. Upstairs. Now."
The blonde maid nodded and rushed to the kitchen.

"It all seems so strange," mama said as we climbed the stairs leading to the second floor. "Why would the gun men shoot at you? You are not an active member in the business."

"I don't know either, mama. I just want to rest."

She nodded.

"Of course. You must still be shaken after such an experience."
