Intoxication

I step out into the rain
Look up without seeing
To yell with joy that the rain has come again
Yet some sort of pain stings me
Tears roll down my face in sync with the rain
And as the water fills my mouth
I can't help the intoxication of the past
As memories splash all around me
On my bear skin
On my drenched clothing
On the leaves of the trees
On the pavement that I walk
I don't think you understand
How I drink the rain to help me forget
But remember all at once
