Sorry I haven't uploaded I've had mocks recently and been revising for my GCSE's but hopefully now it is the holiday's I will have time for some writing. Hope you enjoy x

I and Simon were travelling in the car to his parent's house for the weekend. I'd never met them before; today was going to be the first. I was super nervous in case they didn't like me and also that they have a dog. I have a fear of dogs, I freak out if I'm near one, I've had this fear since I was really young and it has unfortunately stuck with me my whole life. I hate how stupid my fear sounds. When I'm with people it's really aggravating because they don't understand how I feel. When it's just me I avoid them but when you're with others it's more complicated. I feel more comfortable when I'm with someone who knows but not many of my friends do know, mostly just my family. Simon is one of few who knows though, thankfully and will guide me away from them but that isn't so easy in a house unless they're dumped in a room which I disagree with because it's their home too.

We pulled up at the house after a couple of hours of driving and my nerves had drastically increased since we'd left home. My palms were soaked in sweat and my legs were like custard as I opened the car door hesitantly. "What if they don't like me Si?" I say a little shakily to him as he walks round to me side and places his arm around my back, relaxing me ever so slightly.

"They will don't worry (Y/N) and if they don't I won't care but they will like you so you don't need to panic", he said calmly looking down at me with honest beaming eyes that I couldn't fault. I took in a deep breath before replying.

"Okay. I trust you", was all I said back as the front door was popped open revealing a middle aged woman who was restraining a dog back by both hands in the doorway. The dog was quite large and seemed like it could easily jump up to my waist without any problems which made me fearful but Simon's mum looked really sweet smiling as she looked over at us and wavered politely easing me a little.

We both waved back as we slowly shuffled up the gravel track, Simon taking hold of my shaking hand trying to help calm me down whilst we walked. "You'll be fine, promise", he whispered to me just a few feet away from the door now. My nerves started to increase making my head sweat a bit faster but I felt calm at the same time. Simon wouldn't let anything happen to me and his mum seemed really nice and I hadn't even spoken to her yet.

"Welcome back Si and you're very welcome here too (Y/N)", Simon's mum said as he reached out and hugged her before crouching down and stroking the dog.

"Hello, nice to meet you", I said placing my partially shaking hand out for Mrs Minter and she accepted whilst smiling at me and I smiled back looking into her kind eyes before looking down at the fluff ball near my feet with partly petrified eyes.

"Don't worry about him, he won't cause any harm to you, he's more interested in food and toys", Simon's mum said reassuringly sensing the fear on my face but it didn't make me feel that much better but it was very kind of her to try and ease me.

"I don't believe he would but I just can't get past that barrier. There's just something in my head preventing me from believing it. Sorry", I say as I look back to her but stare at the dog through the corner of my eye, keeping it in my sight. Simon stands back up as just as I finish speaking.

"You don't have to be sorry (Y/N), it's not your fault, we all have fears", Simon said very calmly as he snaked his arm around my waist and slightly inched me over to him for protection. I appreciated it gratefully but it only made me feel more comfortable instead.

"Well let's not stand here any longer and go inside", Simon's mum said ushering the dog in first as she trailed in after. Simon put his hand out gesturing for me to go inside which I did but also took hold of his hand, placing it behind me as I walked, followed by Simon closely behind for reassurance sensing I needed it and squeezed my hand gently making a smile appear quickly but disappear as fast as it had come.
