I walked into school and looked down at my phone and walked to my locker opening it and getting my things out for first period. "B!" I heard a familiar voice say behind me. I looked behind of me smiling seeing Montgomery but my smile turned to a frown as I furrowed my eyebrows scanning his face.
"You look like shit." I said with a small frown. Montgomery chuckled. "Damn, thanks." He rolled his eyes. "I got into a fight with your psycho over protective boyfriend, remember?" He laughed leaning against the lockers. "He's not my boyfriend!" I mumbled. "Okay, well I better get to my locker. I'll see you around." Montgomery said and winked as he walked away. I smiled softly.
"Are you and him a thing now?" I heard Jeff's voice behind me. I rolled my eyes. "No, we aren't. Why do you care?" I said turning around. "I don't." Jeff said bluntly. "Okay, then we are done here. Goodbye." I said shutting my locker. "No, I won't let you keep pushing me away. What I did was stupid. I had no right to do that. I just didn't want people to start talking or make rumors." Jeff said. "I'm trying to protect you." He mumbled.
"I can protect myself, Atkins. You aren't my boyfriend." I walked away to my class.
----
I was in History when I felt eyes staring at me. It was a couple of jocks. They were laughing and staring. "What the fuck are you staring at?" I snapped. "Come on, are you that easy all the time?" Bryce asked smirking. "What are you talking about?" I raised an eyebrow.
Marcus placed his phone in front of me and smirked. I watched the video that was playing. There I was, Montgomery was kissing all up and down me. "Montgomery said you texted him after the party begging him to come over and fuck you." One of the others said. I opened my mouth to say something but I got all choked up. I kept my mouth shut and sat there wanting this day to go by quicker because I knew it would only get worse from here.
When the bell rang I made sure to rush out of the classroom. I walked to my locker but I saw everyone staring at me. I passed Jeff and he was one of the people who were staring. I felt tears sting my eyes and I ran to an empty classroom and slid down to the floor and began to cry. Now I knew what Hannah started to feel.
The bad part was that I felt like I deserved this. I was one of the people who killed Hannah. Of course I deserved this.
"Move! Move!" I heard a voice say that was muffled but I could hear that person coming close to the door.
I heard the door open and I looked up seeing Jeff. I shook my head and put my face in my knees. He walked over to me as I could hear his foot steps and sat down. He wrapped an arm around my shoulders.
"I wanted to protect you. I knew that he was going to do this." Jeff spoke quietly.
