After my third day at school, I actually got used to Mrs Grove. She was strict but I was fond of her and how she intimidated the students. It was rather amusing. I became friends with this girl who sat next to me in her class, Gwen. She was goofy, like Lucas in a way and knew just how to make me laugh.
"Mrs Grove probably never got laid last night, that's why she was in such a terrible mood." Gwen joked and made me giggle.
"Is that also why you're in a terrible mood?" I teased
Gwen tried to hide her smile but she couldn't. "Touché Emma, touché."
"Thank you, thank you very much."
"Hey pretty ladies." Lucas greeted, squeezing in between us and slung his arms around us both.
"What do you want?" Gwen rolled her eyes and swatted his arm off of her.
Lucas pointed his finger at Gwen's teeth. "Gwen, your fangs are showing."
She tried to bite his finger but he pulled it away just in time. "You trying to kill me." Lucas gasped and pushed me to the middle so that he was safely next to me and away from her. "Emma she's trying to kill me."
"Play nice Gwen." I warned her then turned to Lucas. "Stop annoying her."
Lucas held his hands up in surrender and we all laughed.
"Have you guys heard that there's a party tonight?" Gwen asked when we stopped at her locker.
"Nope. Kinda new here."
"Kinda invisible here." Lucas pointed to himself.
"Brooklyn is having a party at her house and it's going to be lit. Everyone's going to be there, we have to go." Gwen begged.
"No thanks"
"Why not?" Gwen asked
I couldn't exactly tell her that my parents will never allow me to go to a party again after I got arrested.
"I don't like parties and a lot of people." I tried to sound convincing but it wasn't working out.
"Bullshit." Lucas chimed in.
"Do you want to then go?"
Lucas shrugged his shoulders. "Yeah I wouldn't mind. I've never really been to one."
"Aww let's break his party virginity." Gwen laughed. "Come on Emma, it would be a celebration of your first week at Hulton. Lucas and I want to go, you have to come!"
"Please please please!" Lucas pleaded and did his puppy dog face, making me feel really bad.
I didn't realise what had come out of my mouth till it was too late. "Fine!" I gave in. "I'm in. As long as we only leave after ten thirty."
I said that time because I knew that my parents would be fast asleep.
"So late?" Lucas frowned
"I have plans before and that's the only time I'll be back." I lied which made me feel worse. I didn't want to lie about things that I didn't have to.
"I'm cool with that since the party only starts at eight. We can look cool arriving late." Lucas slowly nodded his head, trying to look cool but clearly wasn't.
"You see...when you do things like this, how can I not hate you?" Gwen told Lucas.
I put my hand over Lucas's mouth before he said anything back. He mumbled, but you couldn't really understand. "I'm going to let go okay? But only if you don't say anything back."
