My eyes lit up when I saw Gwen at her locker. She stood alone looking at herself in the mirror she hung in her locker. I second guessed talking to her but I knew that it was better now than never. I walked over to her with a knot in my stomach that made me shaky. Maybe this was a bad idea I thought to myself as I reached her but it was too late.
"Hey" I greeted softly. Gwen ignored my presence for a few seconds as she put on her favourite pink lipgloss in the mirror. I stood awkwardly looking at her while she puckered her lips then at last turned to me. Her expression changed in an instance as soon as she saw me.
"What do you want?" She snarled and slammed her locker.
"Can we talk?" I asked as I fiddled with my fingers nervously.
"No, I've got nothing to say to you."
"I want to apologise. I'm terribly sorry that I hurt you and I don't care about Hunter. I care about you, you're more important to me. Can we please go back to being friends?" I frowned at her while she stared at me blankly. I turned it into a pout to soft soap her with my charm.
"You hurt me Emma. I told you I liked him and there you went and liked him as well. Friends don't do that!"
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry Gwen." I apologised and truly meant it. It was my fault. "I was stupid."
"Yes you were." She said bluntly then continued. "Did anything happen between you guys yet?"
I paused for a moment. The next answer was crucial and it would make or break the possibility of us being friends again. "Hunter and I are just friends." I said which wasn't a lie. We were friends, but I just didn't inform her of what happened between us. I didn't want to say anything because I was scared she would have rejected me. Besides Hunter and I agreed to just be friends and since nothing was going to happen again she had nothing to worry about.
Gwen narrowed her eyes at me but a small smile appeared. "I suppose we could be friends again as long as you promise you won't lie to me."
"I promise!" I exclaimed in joy. My anxiety had faded away at last.
"Okay then" Gwen pursed her lips and looked around awkwardly as the bell rang. "Wanna walk to P.E together?"
I nodded and we walked in silence together. I wasn't sure what to say to her because I didn't want to mess things up. We entered the cloak room and saw Peggy throw Sandra with a shoe. The two started yelling at each other till Peggy grabbed her shoes and stormed out. Gwen and I turned to look at each other and laughed. The tension was suddenly cut and it felt like old times.
"O'dear O'dear" I giggled.
"I love a good cat fight."
"Sadist." I teased Gwen as we undressed.
"You say it like it's a bad thing." She laughed.
My eyes drifted to Morgan, Jade and Brooklyn that entered. They strutted in like they owned the place in the shortest skirts known to mankind.
"I guess Santa came early cause hoe hoe hoe." I said softly to Gwen and it made her laugh. It felt nice hearing her laughter again. Damn I missed her.
Morgan's eyes caught sight of mine and she walked over here. I gulped nervously as she came, not sure what to do. Did she hear me? "You're Emilia right?"
"Emma" I corrected her with a smile.
"Same thing." She faked a smile back. "Since when are you in my P.E class?"
