It was a cold Monday morning with light rain. I dressed warmly to avoid any chills even though school had a heater. I had survived Friday night and my parents never suspected a thing nor the agents. The weekend was full of light banter between Lucas and I over texts. He had become my best friend. My mind dwelled over Hunter a few times. He was hot one minute, then cold the next. Bipolar much? Maybe it was best that I didn't think about him. After all, he was an ass. I forced myself to shake off any interests in him. I wasn't into him, but I was curious about him. But like they said, curiosity killed the cat.
Lucas closed his locker and put the lock on it. I was on my way to Business and Lucas offered to walk with me since his class was next door.
"So nothing happened?" I asked, referring to when I left him and Jade alone Friday night.
He shook his head. "Nope. That guy Rick showed up and pulled her away."
"That sucks." I frowned.
"It's chilled Emma, besides she's not the one I want."
"Morgan seriously?" The disappointment in my voice was evident.
"Yeah, I've been in love with her since like the first grade."
I stopped in front of my class and a playful smile crossed my face. "That's why I don't fall in love." I left him with that statement and walked into class. I sat right at the back, since there were the only open seats.
"Morning class" Mr Daniels greeted.
The class greeted back in unison and opened our textbooks to where we last stopped.
"Today we will-" Mr Daniels trailed off when a boy walked into class. It was none other than Hunter.
"You're late." Mr Daniels snarked.
"Sorry sir" Hunter apologised.
"Are you really?"
"Nope."
"Go sit down. I'll see you in detention."
Hunter didn't protest or anything. He simply listened and walked to his seat. He didn't have that angry look nor that smirky one either. Instead he seemed normal, which was odd for me. I've only encountered him in those moods, never normality. Hunter walked to the back of the class since there was the only open seats left and saw me. Suddenly a grin formed and he headed me way. Oh no.
"Look who it is." He said sarcastically and sat down next me.
"Since when are you in my class?" I questioned.
"Since when are you in my class?"
Oh yeah. I'm the new one.
"Where were you then last week?" I asked
"What's with all the questions?"
I threw my hands up in surrender. "Just asking."
"Don't."
There was the Hunter I have come to know. Rude.
I turned my gaze back to Mr Daniels who was giving us the layout of the project. I was in no mood for Hunter. I don't even know why he came to sit next to me, there's two open seats. Frankly I don't understand what people see in him. The girls fell for his looks obviously but his friends? How can people tolerate a guy that was always snappy and a complete jerk.
"For your project you have to create your own business. You must have a detailed business plan that includes an explanation of what your business is, the name, your target market, profit motive, finances, logo...everything. You can find it in your textbook. Also, I would like a drawing of the logo and name of your business and please be creative. You will be working in pairs as well and it's due in two weeks."
