It was too dark to see. However, when Kylo ignited his lightsaber, the trees illuminated in red and he saw two limping figures. Quickly, he examined his surroundings. There was no way around fighting; this would be it. He clenched his fist.

There was a cliff to his left. He knew it was a forty foot drop to the forest below. Even better, there was a pile of stones nearby. If he was lucky, one of them would climb up there, desperate for the high ground. Kylo would take advantage.

Juban was coming towards him, knife in his hand and arm thrown around the hunter's shoulder. The hunter himself looked weak and tired, but carried the weight of his injured chief like it was an honor.

For the first time, Kylo's anger kept itself at bay. He was seeting; rolls of fury going across his body. This was, perhaps, the angriest he had ever been in his life, but he did not lash out, for the thrumming pain in his heart and mind kept him from it.

"I'm surprised to see you haven't ran away," Juban snarled.

Kylo held his weapon forward. "You are a dead man."

"Almost," Juban said, laughing, "thanks to your Princess. But not quite. How's it feel, Ren? To know that you don't always get what you want? You wanted a long life with her, right? Well. Things don't always work out that way."

"I am going to kill you," he said.

"I don't doubt it," Juban laughed. Tears of pain were streaming down his scruffy face. "But then what will you do? Will you... just go home? Go back to normal? How will that be for you now?"

Kylo couldn't imagine how it would be. Returning home, seeing your people become his soldiers because their princess was dead. It would be horrible. In truth, he would probably be reckless. He would put himself in harm's way just to see you again.

He just wanted to see you again.

"I can see it in your eyes, Commander," he spat, "you are lost. You struggle to control yourself from slitting my throat right now."

He wanted to see you so badly.

Kylo began to push his Force forward. He searched for you, felt your presence, and gave his strength. He willed your heart to beat, all the while, praying that the Force would allow it.

"I want to make your death worth something," he said. "For her, and for Amaar."

"How sweet," Juban said, his venomous voice laced with sarcasm and disgust.

Kylo shot forward. He raised his lightsaber at the same moment. Juban ducked out of the way, leaving Kylo's weapon to collide viciously with the hunter's chain wrapped blade - a new weapon that Kylo had never seen before.

They clashed, pushing each other back and forcing their weapons ahead. The hunter backed himself up and, despite the slick surfaces of stones due to the rain, climbed. Kylo took advantage and look a gashing hit at the back of the hunter's knees.

He shouted and toppled off the side, disappearing in a heap of leaves and mud at the forest floor. Kylo climbed to the top of the rock formation and glanced down at the body. He was dead; his legs cut from his body and his blood spilling out of his head from the fall.

Now, Kylo had to find Juban. He turned his head to trek back down, but he was kicked down. With a few hard smacks against the rock, Kylo fell off the side. Before he could fall and suffer the same fate as the hunter, he reached upward. His fingers hooked onto a ledge of the rock.

There he dangled, damp curls hanging in his eyes and one hand holding up all of his body weight. His dominant hand still gripped his lightsaber. Above him, Juban was struggling.

"I'm going to die," he said, his voice shaky. "But not before watching you take your last breath, Commander."

Kylo's grip tightened. His lips twisted as he felt sharp stabs of pain shoot up his arm. Still, he held on. He didn't want to give up. You wouldn't want that.

"It's a shame," he grunted, lowering himself to his knees, holding his broken arm to his side. "The Princess... she had potential. And then you turned her into an independent soldier. But she had such a pretty face, don't you think?"

Kylo clenched his teeth. A roar erupt from his chest and he swung his weapon upward. Juban laughed; the tip of the red wasn't even close to grazing him.

"Your uncontrollable anger!" Juban exclaimed. "It is so odd, but so fun. It's your downfall, Commander Ren. You cover you weakness with anger. But I found the biggest weakness you have. You're afraid of being alone."

Juban laughed madly. Kylo felt himself slipping as he watched the man he despised more than anything hold his arms out. He tilted his head up to the sky.

"Look around, Ren!" he yelled, "you're utterly alone!"

His laughs came out in bursts of insanity. Kylo gritted his teeth as he willed himself not to let go. He didn't want to give Juban that satisfaction. It was all he could do for you; and perhaps, that was all that mattered.

And then, there was a burst of light, and Juban slumped forward; the light hitting his side. Kylo dug his fingers into the rock as he saw you - really you - walk up to Juban. You sneered at him in disgust, and, with a slight limp of your own, turned his dying body around.

"Princess?" he gasped, his pale face showing disbelief. You gripped your hand around his throat. "How are you-"

"I wanted to make this death slow and painful for you," you said, and you stomped on his leg, snapping it. Then, you hit the other. He cried. "I think my husband did enough."

Kylo was slipping, but he didn't dare look away from you. You knelt down and reached a hand. Your kind, glittering eyes masked Kylo's relief.

"Just grab my hand, Kylo," you said. "I won't let you fall."

He nodded. "I know."

He let go. Before he slipped through the air, he locked his fingers around your wrist. You held on tightly and used all of you bodily strength as you pulled him up.

Once his knees met the rocky side, he quickly yanked his body upward and threw himself towards you. His arms engulfed you, bringing you close to his chest. You cried in relief as you felt him hold you again.

"How'd you do it?" you whispered.

"I couldn't let you go," he breathed, pressing his face to the side of your head. He kissed your temple. "I had to do something. I wouldn't live without you."

You clung to him. Blindly, your lips found his. He kissed you as if it was his first and your first time. There was a double about of passion in his kisses as he cradled your head and tangled his fingers in your hair.

You didn't know how he did it, but you did know that the Force worked in mysterious ways, and Kylo Ren knew just how to will it to do as he asked. But none of it mattered; you were in his arms, Juban was dying, and you were the princess of your planet once more.
