Dawnstar lifted her head and blinked the sleep out of her eyes. Walking out of her den, Dawnstar saw Thornpetal and Nightshade telling Ambermoon and Mistyrain that the vigil was over.

Padding out of the den and closer to the fresh-kill pile, Dawnstar chose a plump thrush and began eating. Thornpetal trotted towards the eating leader, flicking her ears.

“Dawnstar, would you be willing to lead the hunting patrol? Leafbare will be here soon and we need to make sure that there’s enough prey to keep us sustained while we honor the agreement.”

Dawnstar nodded and began choosing the cats who would join the patrol.

“Honeydew, Frostfang, Foxtail, are you all free to join the hunting patrol?”

Dawnstar asked the eating cats.

“Sure, none of us are doing anything at the moment.” Honeydew replied.

Foxtail snorted and glared at the yellow she-cat.

“You may be doing nothing, but I am. Thornpetal asked me to lead the border patrol, which is what I’ll be doing. Besides, I refuse to hunt with that traitor!”

Dawnstar flicked her tail tip irritably, anger rising in her chest.

“How is Frostfang a traitor?!”

Foxtail growled as he looked at Frostfang.

“She’s accepted a rogue into the clan without even asking anyone if it was a good idea!”

Huata padded towards the fresh-kill pile. Turning her head, Huata quickly walked off at the sight of Foxtail.

Dawnstar hissed softly. “She asked me mousebrain, and you aren’t in charge of this clan, I am and I am allowing Huata to join Fireclan. She will be an apprentice and I’ll hold the ceremony soon if she wants to join us.”

Foxtail held his head and tail high as he walked over to Feircefang and Nightshade. Frostfang shook her head and stood up.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with that mousebrain, he’s been strutting around like he owned the place since the battle ended.”

Honeydew nodded, flicking her ear. “I believe he drove off three rogues and was hardly injured. His worst injury was probably his pride, since Falcon smashed his into the ground when he was about to strike a killing blow on a silver rogue.”

Dawnstar shook her head in anger as she looked at her mother.

“Well, are you two free?”

Honeydew and Frostfang nodded and trotted to the camp entrance, waiting for the brown tabby to follow.

While Dawnstar was walking towards the waiting hunting patrol, she turned her head at glared at Foxtail, her amber eyes gleaming in the morning light.

“Come, let’s go hunt,” Dawnstar meowed.

Dawnstar returned to camp with the patrol, carrying two squirrels, a mouse, and a robin.

Setting down the robin, Dawnstar looked over at Snowstorm and Nova, who were whispering and occasionally glancing at her near the camp’s edge.

Dawnstar padded slowly towards the pair and cocked her head.

“Is there something you would like to tell me?”

Snowstorm flicked her tail along the ground, staring worriedly at Nova.

“Do you want to explain it?”

Nova nodded and pointed her long muzzle towards the camp entrance.

“I’ll meet you at the Whispering Cavern at sundown, okay?”

Dawnstar nodded and walked off to check on Huata.

“Hello Huata, how are you doing so far?”

Huata shook her head, sadness spreading across her face.

“Foxtail has been gossiping behind my back and glaring at me whenever I walk by him. Although, Copperfang has been very kind and welcoming to me,” Huata meowed, her eyes softening slightly.

Dawnstar suppressed her laughter and smiled.

As Huata walked away towards Copperfang, Dawnstar continued her way to High Rock for a nap.

Well, I hope that works out and Huata decides to become a warrior of Fireclan.
