Dawnstar looked up at the fading sky that was jeweled with stars.

I better hurry if I’m to meet with Snowstorm and Nova at the Whispering Cavern.

Rushing to the cave entrance, Dawnstar stopped, spotting the long-haired she-cat and red-orange fox.

“Okay, so why did I need to come all the way out here to speak with you?”

Snowstorm flicked her tail and Dawnstar followed her gaze to the cavern’s entrance.

“Not us, you must speak with Starclan.”

Dawnstar nodded and slowly padded into the cave, pelt prickling with anxiety. Dawnstar squinted as she drew upon the Moon Stone.

Blinking, Dawnstar walked towards the massive stone, touched her nose to the edge, and slept.

* * * * *

Dawnstar opened her eyes to find herself in Starclan’s hunting grounds. Fallenpaw appeared besides Dawnstar, causing her a new wave a grief.

“Hello my son,” Dawnstar meowed, holding back a whimper of sadness. Fallenpaw smiled sadly and nuzzled Dawnstar’s chest.

“Good to see you too Dawnstar.”

Dawnstar closed her eyes, wishing that this moment could last forever.

Opening her eyes again, Dawnstar stepped back from her kit and cocked her head.

“So, what did I need to come here for?”

Fallenpaw’s smile faded immediately and his face became serious.

“Last night, I visited Snowstorm in a dream and shared a prophecy with her. I will share the same one with you, but don’t ask me to explain it like she did.” Dawnstar nodded in response.

Fallenpaw flicked his ear and stood still. Suddenly, a voice that sounded nothing like Fallenpaw’s erupted from him.

"In an age of strife, when shadows mingle with light, dawn will become dusk and day will become night."

Dawnstar shuddered at the message.

What is wrong with me?! I’ve dealt with the Ghosts, the Rogues, and grief! Why does this prophecy my my skin crawl?

Dawnstar fluffed her pelt out and stared down at the small light-brown tom.

“That’s ominous.”

Fallenpaw nodded and began to fade away.

“No, don’t go yet! I want to tell you so much! I love you...”

Once Fallenpaw had completely faded away, Dawnstar’s vision darkened.

Fine, I’ll have to figure this out myself and tell Fallenpaw about Foxtail’s attitude later.

Dawnstar closed her eyes and waited for herself to awaken. A strange noise whispered into Dawnstar's ear.

“Who’s there?”

Dawnstar focused her gaze on the dark silhouette in front of her.

Glancing around the new cat, Dawnstar realized that she was no longer in Starclan but was still not in the Whispering Cavern.

“Where am I?!”

The silhouette in front of Dawnstar moved towards her and hissed softly.

“You are darkness, hiding in the shadows of light.

Dawnstar’s shivered again and fell to the ground, unable to control her actions.

Standing back up Dawnstar looked at the cat in front of her, her vision blinking in and out.

“What’s going -” Dawnstar questioned, collapsing before she could finish.

Dawnstar lay still, only able to listen and wait for the nightmare to end.

“You are darkness, hiding in the shadows of light.”

Dawnstar woke suddenly.

Leaping to her paws, Dawnstar unsheathed her claws and snarled at the figure in front of her.

“Dawnstar, what’s wrong!” Nova barked.

Dawnstar sheathed her claws , still looking at the red fox. Nova stared at the brown tabby in surprise.

"Snowstorm was guarding outside and I came in to check on you. You were stone cold and I was worried.”

Dawnstar blinked in thanks and looked past Nova and towards the entrance.

“I was speaking with Fallenpaw then I saw something I have no wish to share at the moment. Let’s go back to camp, I’ll explain what I saw in the morning.”

Dawnstar walked out of the cavern and back to camp with her two companions.
