Chapter 7 Tori
"Here we are" Aunt Eliza smiled when the taxi pulled up in front of a small house.
I looked out the car window and almost smiled. Almost.
"It's tiny" I stated instead.
"No, it's cute" Eliza feigned hurt handing the taxi driver an American 20 and climbing out of the car.
I got out and met Eliza at the back of the car quickly pulling my suitcase out and reluctantly following her up to the front door.
While Eliza located her keys and unlocked the house I looked around curiously. Eliza had a beautiful front lawn of lush green grass and a tiny white fence that was painted to perfection. The rose bushes were a magnificent red, white and pink smelling like the country gardens back home.
"Let's go" Eliza smiled as she entered the house.
For a moment I wondered if she ever didn't smile but I was pulled away from my thoughts as I stepped over the threshold.
"So your bedroom is the first door on the left. It's the spare room so you can stay there for the night" Eliza explained.
The entryway was tiny and on the right was the small staircase. On the left there was a set of French doors that opened up into a comfy living room. Aunt Eliza had kept walking through another door at the other end of the hall that obviously led to the kitchen.
I reluctantly dragged my suitcase up the stairs and entered the spare bedroom.
"It's pink" I said incredulous.
The walls were pink. The pillows were pink. The desk was pink. The door was pink.
"Pink" I repeated.
"Is that a problem?" I turned to see Eliza at the door.
"No" I lied.
Eliza raised her eyebrows and I laughed coldly.
"You're just like my mother" I said.
"She is my sister you know" Eliza smiled again "tea will be ready at 5" and with that she left.
I shut the door behind her and fell onto the bed lying on my back and staring at the ceiling.
"I hate pink" I sighed closing my eyes and thinking about my favourite colour, blue.
After a while I drifted off the sleep.
