Please read the series. And then read a book about Greek and Roman mythology. The other way around is fine too.
Poseidon is the god of sea and he has control over water, just like percy.
Athena is the goddess of intelligence, Annabeth is highly intelligent.
Zeus is the god of sky and thunder, Jason controls lighting.
Aphrodite is goddess of love, beauty, pleasure and protection, in some legends she can also charmspeak. Piper is described as a really beautiful girl, and she can charmspeak.
Hepatheus is god of blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and volcanoes. As we know, Leo is quite a handyman and controls fire.
Pluto is god of underworld and all the riches of earth. Hazel can control gems and gold. Her power to control the mist is inherited from her mother, who was a witch.
Franks power to turn int different animals (or actually anything in general) is Poseidon's gift for his family.
I could go on but I don't want to shame you too much. Now please tell me, how their powers have nothing to to with their parents. I also would like to ask, where the vampires powers (Alice visions, Edward mind reading etc.) come from?
And have you considered that, maybe, just maybe, Edward cant read Bella's mind because her head is totally empty and there is nothing to read.
