No characters die in Twilight, but characters die in Percy Jackson which causes distress in readers.
Books are supposed to cause emotions, if book doesn't make you feel any emotions it's failed as a book.
Also I can name one character who died in Twilight, her name was Irina, but I'm not surprised you don't remember, because she wasn't really important for the plot.
PJO deaths are important for the plot and also make book more realistic. There are always deaths in war. War that ends with handshake and without one death? Name me one in real life. You can' because there aren't many if any. It just isn't realistic at all.
