Chapter 5

     I been looking for you, Chance said. I went to the steam room you wasn't in there. I was in the for a minute until it got crowed, I checked out the pool, and went into the gift shop. You had a good nap? Yeah, I needed that. Now, we can enjoy our vacation together. I'm not so sure about that. Why not? Worked, I said. Kaydence no, we both promised each other we wouldn't like work get in the way of our vacation. I know but you know how my job is. And that's the problem, Chance said. What you mean? Nothing, what is it now? Captain had a heart attack and they looking for someone to replace until he returns. Let me guess, you volunteered to do it. No, I just know they might vote that I do it. You know how the station works, everything goes by votes. If I get voted to replace him, I have to do it. No you don't, you can easily say no. This could really make my career baby. I'll be the first woman to be captain at the station. That will be huge for me in many ways. I didn't come here to talk about your career. I came here to enjoy a nice vacation with my wife. A vacation that she suggested we take. I'm going to enjoy this vacation with or without her. When you decide what's more important to you, you come find me.

    I was a little thrown off on how Chance was acting. He knew from the very beginning my career was something that was very important to me. I've worked my ass off to get where im at. I'm in the top 3 agents at my station. Never has a woman been in the top 3. That's a great accomplishment and im not going to be ashamed of it either. Yes, I had to put in a lot of long hours to get where im at. I've put my career above everything in my life. Yes, I understand where Chance's frustration coming from. If the tables were turned, I would be frustrated too. Chance has put in a lot of time getting his landscaping business off the ground. I've watched him stay up late hours, suffered injuries, and I watched him put his self a hole trying to get this business started. After dating for a few months, I invested in his business. I've gave him loans, thrown some business his way, all of that. Of course, I waited until I knew what we had was real. I didn't want to invest in his business and loan him money without knowing where we were going. We've had this discussion before. I try to cut back on work but doing that not helping my career either. Chance should have known being away for 2 weeks was going to hurt my career as well as his business. While he out being mad, im about to creep back to King. I know he'll take my mind off all of this.

    Right before I walked out, Chance walked back in. Shit, I said in my head. Look im sorry for blowing up the way I did. I was just looking forward to spending some real alone time with you. I was starting to feel like our connection was fading. I know your career is important to you, I respect that. I just don't want our relationship to suffer because of it. Yeah, we don't spend much time together or whatever but our relationship is not suffering. You know we talked about having kids someday. I just want to make sure we straight finically before that time comes, I said. I know, I want the same thing too. If we have to end our trip early, ill be ok with it. What about the room? I know you can't get your money back. I'm not worried about that, Chance said. You getting this promotion is more important. You deserve it more than anybody at the station. Thank you baby. Let's enjoy our time just in case we have to leave. It's a nice dinner tonight in the ballroom. I already got our table reserved. You have a spa appointment in 5 minutes too. While you getting pampered, im going to hit the gym for a minute. All the things you can do, you wanna workout? A resort not really for men, women have more fun here than men do. You should go to the spa with me. It can be relaxing for you too. You can enjoy it, Chance said. I'll just see you when you done.

     I knew Chance wasn't gon stay mad for long. It's like he hates being mad at me. Even when I know im in the wrong, he still will apologize first. I know it may sound like Chance a punk or something but he's not. Chance is a real sweet man, he was raised by his grandma, his grandfather is a Pastor so he was raised right. He a real gentlemen and I love that about him. He talk to his grandma every 2 days, he go grocery shopping for her every week, and send her flowers every Sunday. I feel in love with the way he adores his grandma. The main reason why he so good to me is because of her. She hates that I work so much. She always tell me to make sure he happy so won't nobody come take him away from me. I always said Chance would never leave me, im confident he won't. As long as he don't find out about my affairs, we won't have no problems. I was headed down to the spa when I bumped into King. Sooo glad Chance didn't come with me after all. Hey, where you headed to? To the spa, where you going? Headed back up to my room, went for a quick swim. I wanted to go but it was packed when I went. You'll probably have to go as soon as it open. Did you hear about from your job? Not yet, im hoping I don't hear from them. You really don't want the position? It's not that I don't want it, I just don't want to end my vacation. Yeah, I would hate to end my time with you so soon. I was thinking that too, I said. We'll just have to keep in touch when you leave. I planned on doing that anyway. I'll swing by your room when I leave the spa. Here's my key, King said. Won't you need it? I got that just for you. Feel free to use it as if it was your room too. I'll see you later. I didn't want Chance to catch me all close to King. I gotta make sure I hide this key. I don't plan on taking this affair past my vacation. Right now it's all fun and games but I want to leave it here. I'm already risking fooling around with Talen. I need to keep my affairs away from home. 

     I was enjoying getting pampered! I haven't had this treatment in a long time. I left my phone in the room just so I could fully enjoy this. I'm normally never away from my phone due to my job. I just want to enjoy some part of this vacation before it gets cut short. So far all ive enjoyed was King. Excuse me, I hate to interrupt. Do you have a Kaydence Washington in here? That's me, I said while sitting up. Sorry to disturb your massage but you have a phone call. From who? Your husband, he said to come to the room as soon as you can. Ok, thank you. You're welcome. I knew it was only a matter of time. I put my robe back on and headed to the room. Before going, I stopped to see King for a second. I know what y'all thinking, im just going to say goodbye just in case I have to leave. I know I can't say bye while Chance with me. When I walked in, he was sleep. I had so many dirty thoughts running through my head. I didn't want to wake him so I just left him a note on the table. "It was a real pleasure meeting you King. My job called so I have to leave. I didn't want to wake you so that's why im leaving this and your key. I put my number in your phone already. I'm normally busy so you'll probably have to text me. Hope you enjoy the rest of your time here. Talk to you soon, Kaydence". I kissed the note to leave my lipstick on it. I don't mind talking to him when I leave, we just won't mess around.

    I got your message, I said while entering the room. You noticed you left your phone? Yeah, I wanted to enjoy the spa without worrying about my phone. Well the station called, Chance said. What they say? You got it. Really? They decided to take the vote without you having to come back. I still have to go back, I said. It was a split vote, Davis was hoping somebody voted the other way. Guess we'll leave out in the morning. We still have the rest of the night to enjoy ourselves, Chance said. Instead of us going to the dinner, I rather us stay in here. Why? I rather it just be us enjoying this great room and the lovely view we got. We can order some room service, eat on the patio, and just enjoy each other without no interruptions. If that's what you want, we can do that. I just suggested that so we wouldn't bump into King by any chance.
