Chapter 27

   How you feeling? I'm cramping a little, but not too bad. Why is this laptop in the bed? I was just checking some emails, I said. You not supposed to be worrying about work right now. I'm lonely just laying here all day, I need something to do. I don't have anything to do today, so it's going to be just me and you. Let's go get something to eat, Chance said. We haven't had a date in a while. Yeah, it's been a minute since we been out. Let me get myself together, I said. I was excited about going out with Chance. Lately thing been so crazy, we haven't had real time with each other. Plus, I want to see where Chance head is after everything that happened. I'm hoping he believed my story and he doesn't think I cheated for real. It's a little unbelievable that he believed me. I don't want him to pretend he believes me, but still has he's doubts. Where we go from here is what im focused on.

We went to one of our favorite spots, A'more. This is where we had our first date at, we come here every year on our anniversary. I missed this place, I said while looking at the menu. How you feeling about everything? What you mean? As far as the miscarriage and the conversation we had last night, I said. I'm still down about the miscarriage, Chance said. As far as the conversation, im over it. Really? Yeah, it's no point in holding on to it. I mean, I doubted you enough as it is now. I don't want to hold on to it knowing I was wrong. I just want to make sure you believe me. I do, at the time I didn't. Once you explained everything to me, that's when I knew I was wrong. Like I said, I just want to make sure you believe me. I don't want you to say you do but still have your doubts. Naw, if I say I believe you then I believe you. I just want us to move forward from everything, I said. I want the same thing too. I was doing some thinking last night after you fell asleep, Chance said. About what? When the time is right, I want to try again. You do? Yeah, the thought of us having a child brought so much joy to my heart. I know I said I wasn't ready for kids and stuff. The thought of having one, made me smile. The fact I could prove to you that I can be a better father than you dad was, means ill be keeping my promise to you. So far, ive been a better husband. Now I just need to be a better father. The doctor told me to wait 4 to 6 weeks before trying again. Well, that's what we're going to do. I want to really get our marriage back on track, Chance said. With our work schedules and stuff, I just want us to get back how we were a few months ago. Yeah, I want that too. I have something for you, Chance said. What? Chance snapped his fingers and a band came out of nowhere playing our wedding song. Kaydence, I love you more than anything in this world. Having you as my wife had been nothing but amazing. You're my wife, my best friend, my biggest supporter, and everything I could possibly ask for. Would you do me the honors by marrying me again? Of course, I said while crying. I been having this upgraded ring for months now. I can finally put it where it belongs. The whole restaurant started clapping when Chance put the ring on my finger. While everybody was clapping, I saw King in the crowd. This is the last thing he need to see right now.

I can't believe you did this, I said. I wanted to give you the ring while we were on vacation at the resort. We had to end it early, so I didn't get the chance to do it then. Excuse me, I don't mean to bother you guys. I looked up and King was standing at our table. I just wanted to say congratulations, you guys make a lovely couple. Thanks, Chance said. That's a lovely fragrance you're wearing ma'am. Thank you, I said. Your wife must wear it, Chance asked? She wasn't my wife, but she was most definitely the love of my life. What happened with y'all? She wasn't ready for the type of relationship I was willing to give her. I'm sorry to hear that, Chance said. Baby, I think he'll be perfect for Honest. What? Yeah, he seems like a nice guy. Are you free tomorrow night? Yeah, I am. How about dinner, the four of us? I don't think that's a good idea, I said. Why not? I just don't think it is baby. I don't see nothing wrong with it, King said. I'm trying to get over this special lady, so im down for meeting new people. It's all set, here is my sister's address. Where are my manners? I'm Chance and this is my wife Kaydence. I'm Aiden, nice to meet y'all. So, tomorrow 7? Sounds like a plan to me, King said. I can't believe what the fuck just happened. Like, what is King up to? I think his ass is really trying to end my marriage. I have to someway, somehow get out of this shit. You really think he'll be right for Honest? Yeah, I think he'll be much better for her than Talen. He trying to get over his lady, im hoping them meeting will help Honest get over Talen. Works out for everybody, Chance said.

After leaving the restaurant, I HAD to go see my mom. Like, this shit spinning out of control for real now. Chance dropped me off at my mom's house and he went to tell Honest the "good" news. You look cute, my mom said while kissing my cheek. Where you coming from? We went to dinner. How you feeling? I'm ok, not in that much pain. I'm assuming everything is going fine between y'all. We slowly getting everything back on track. How he take the news? You seem too calm today, my mom said. Wait, what is this? My mom noticed the new ring on my finger. Chance asked me to marry him again. What? Before or after you told him everything? After. Wait, my mom said while shaking her head. Let me start from the beginning. Chance found my medicine in the bathroom when he got home. I knew at that moment, I had to come clean. We started talking, and I tried to tell him everything. Having him in front of me, I just froze. I ended up saying the first thing that came to mind, which was I had a miscarriage. Kaydence, you didn't? That's the first thing that came to mind. I tried and tried to tell him the truth. The more he gave me that cold stare, the more scared I got. So, he bought it? Yes, he actually bought it. Wow! I know right, I was just as shocked as you. He thought I was cheating. What you say? With every example he gave, I came back with a believable excuse. He felt bad for accusing me or even doubting me. How he ended up proposing again?

He wanted to go out to dinner, so we went to A'more. I wanted to make sure he really believed me. I didn't want him to say he believes me, but he still doubts me. He said he believed me and he apologized for doubting me. He said he had something for me. A band came out and played our wedding song. He stood up and gave me this nice speech. Then he pulled out this amazing ring. Once he put the ring on my finger, everybody started clapping. You won't believe what happened next. What? One of the guys I cheated with, and probably was pregnant by comes to the table. NOOO! Yes ma, he came to the table. And said what? He said congratulations, then he compliments my perfume. Chance asked if his wife wears it. He said he didn't have a wife, but the love of his life wears it. Then Chances goes and invites over Honest house to dinner tomorrow night. WHAT! Yes ma, he really invited him. He feels like he'll be perfect for Honest. Them meeting would help King get over the lady he was in love with and Honest can get over Talen. He gave the guy Honest address and everything ma. What is his motive? Ma, I don't know. I had the talk with him about the abortion. He was hurt, he even cried. He said he respected the fact im trying to focus on my marriage. Obviously, he doesn't respect it. Yeah, I see that now. He even changed his name ma. He said his name was Aiden. Girlll, sounds like he a lunatic. I have to talk Chance out of this disaster dinner date.

I got some good news, Chance said. What? I got you a date. A what? It's not a date, date. I invited this guy over to have dinner with you, me, and Kaydence. Who is he? I don't know, we met him in a restaurant. Damn, how desperate you think I am? He came over to our table, congratulated us, and I just got a good vibe from him. Congratulated y'all on what? I finally gave her the ring I been holding on to. You still gave her the ring? What good was it doing just sitting in my desk? You should have took it back, Honest said. For what? Regardless of what we're going through, that's still my wife. I still love her, period. Whatever, Chance. So, when it this "dinner"? Tomorrow, at 7. What am I cooking? Whatever you want to cook. I just stopped by to tell you that. I'm about to go pick up Kaydence. Where she at? Dropped her off at her mom's. I'll see you tomorrow.

I was thinking, I said. About what? I don't think this dinner thing a good idea. Why you so against it? We don't know this guy to be inviting him to Honest house. With everything that's going on with this X killer, it's too far out there to just be inviting a stranger over your sister's house. I just don't think it's a good idea. I already told her about it, Chance said. I just want her to get over Talen and find somebody that's going to really appreciate her. And you think this guy is that? It doesn't hurt to try. You must know this guy or something? No, why you say that? You so against it like you know something about him or something. Am I wrong for thinking inviting a random ass guy to your sister's house a bad idea? It's how hard you going right now. If you think it's a good idea then fine, we can do it. If something happens, it's not on me. The moment you feel uncomfortable, we can go. And leave her alone with a random man? I know my sister can handle herself when it comes down to it. Ok, but the SECOND I get a weird vibe or get uncomfortable we're leaving. That's fine baby.
