As I waited for our food, I kept catching Lance glancing at me again. I thought he'd stop when I took notice of it and caught him. Yet, he's doing it again.
When I had caught him, he immediately looked away. I waited for his next glance. When he had glimpsed at me again, I hit my palm hard on the table. He winced like before.
"How much caffeine have you had?" I joked as I looked intently at him.
He frowned. I didn't think he would not get the humor of my joke, anyway.
"You always wince everytime I talk to you. Do I scare you?" I asked.
"No. Sorry. I'm just...uncomfortable," he admitted.
"Then why did you want to go out with me?" I demanded.
He did not answer. He looked away, instead. I pulled his arm to inch him close to me across the table. He winced again. He looked funny everytime he winces.
"Do I intimidate you that much?" I asked.
He shook his head. "You're just too...pretty."
His cheeks flamed when he said that. I grinned and laughed.
"Don't ever say that to Ethan. He'll kill you," I warned.
He scowled at me in confusion.
"No, seriously. He will," I assured, trying hard not smile.
"Marv has a point," he finally talked, but diverted his mood. "Why don't you two just be together?"
"Why would you say that?"
"Everyone has been asking that, for sure," he said as a matter-of-factly and looked at me for confirmation.
I just rolled my eyes at him and pouted my lips, knowing that he had a point.
He was right. Everyone had been asking, but what were we supposed to say?
That's all we would ever be.
I guess.
Two best friends flirting and cuddling and all.
Yet, we're not a couple.
"You obviously like each other," he pointed out, disturbing my thoughts.
Well, I do.
"We hate each other. A lot," I replied as a matter-of-factly, emphasizing the latter.
I don't.
"People use hate to cover up their longing for someone," he quoted. "That's what makes it hard for anyone to move on. They hate but then they also love."
I laughed. "That's not the case for us."
He smirked at me. "Wait until one of you gets a lover."
Just the thought of that already makes me cringe.
He was just nervous a while ago. He suddenly turned to Freud and started lecturing me.
Our food finally came. We left as soon as we received them. I was silent during the whole drive. When I had glanced at him, he was smirking again. Not wincing anymore. I glared at him.
We reached Ethan's dormitory in fifteen minutes. Lance knocked on the door while I was behind him, standing and waiting for the door to open.
When I had heard the door knob click, I took a step forward only to get pulled by Lance and get kissed. I quickly pushed him away.
