She's gone. Again. Without a trace. All that was left of hers was her scent in my room, her beautiful face pictured in my mind, and my love for her.
She's gone. She's left me again. I tried to call her but her phone was unattended. I went to her place and she wasn't there anymore.
I tried calling her dad but the line was always busy. I sent her text messages through social media but she was always offline.
I thought I'll go crazy again. I thought I'll have to find her and ask her what's going on. She told she loves me but she left me.
I needed answers. I needed an explanation. I needed to find her.
I booked myself a plane ticket flying to Barcelona. I'll look for her. I tried calling her and the line was still dead.
I kept calling her dad, too, until finally, on my hundredth call, he picked up.
"Mr. Calloway!" I called.
"Ethan," he said, exhausted.
"Kitty just left me without notice. I'm worried where she went," I told him.
"She's…she's fine, son. She's…okay," he answered.
"She's not, is she?"
I heard him gasp on the other line.
"What's going on, Mr. Calloway?" I asked.
"If she left you, it's because she loves you," he replied instead.
"I want to see her. Please let me see her. I'm begging you, sir," I begged.
Then he told where I could find her. I drove immediately to their house. Lance opened the door for me, surprising us both. His eyes were asking me but I did not bother say why. I was too worried for Kitty to think about him.
He led me to her room. She was surprised when she saw me.
"E-Ethan?" she rattled.
She looked pale. "Kitty."
Lance left to give us some privacy. I looked at her as she looked at me. Her eyes were sad and lonely.
"Why did you leave me again, Kitty?" I asked, hurt obvious in my tone.
"I-I had to," she whispered.
I looked around. An envelope on her bedside table piqued me. I picked it up and found out it was from a private hospital in Barcelona.
"Don't," she said when I tried to open it.
But I refused. I opened it and read the letter. I felt hurt and astonished after reading it. When I glanced at her, she was alread teary-eyed.
"When did it start?" I asked in a coarsed voice.
"Six years ago," she replied. "Room 4B."
"That's the time you passed out on me. And then you passed out again. And then again. I know because I was there. I triggered it, didn't I?"
She gasped to stifle her cry. "It wasn't your fault. I chose to get hurt."
I cursed. "I'm very sorry, Kitty."
I approached her and hugged her tightly. She began to cry. I hugged her tighter.
"It's my fault, so please, don't leave me again. I love you and I'll stay by your side," I muttered.
"I'm at stake, Ethan. It has gone serious."
I closed my eyes in pain of what I heard. "We'll find you a solution. You'll live. We'll get married and have kids. We'll grow old together."
She did not speak. She just kept crying until I felt her freeze in my arms. When I looked at her she was still crying until she passed out. Again. In my arms.
