I stood in front of the treehouse where it all started. I ran my eyes to where it stood. Years passed but our treehouse was still there. Standing strong like our friendship.

The treehouse was the place where I first saw her beautiful smile, where I became friends with her, where we swore we'd get married and have kids.

I scoffed. We did our best to stay strong together, just as how our treehouse did its best to stay alive from strong winds and storm.

Alive. If only she was still alive. We could've get married. We could've taken our kids to our treehouse. We could've told them our story.

If only she was alive, I'd have a story to tell to my kids. But she was taken away from me again. For real. She tried to survive. I tried, too.

I just didn't think I'd marry at all. She was what I wanted. I didn't think I could ever find someone like her. She was my everything.

I turned my back and leaned on the trunk. I sat down and closed my eyes as I recalled every beautiful moment I had with her. When I opened my eyes, I saw her image. She was smiling at me. How I've missed her. Her pretty face, her smirk, her lovely smile, her eyes that spoke of longing and love for me. She waved her hand at me. I waved back.

I've really missed her. I closed my eyes again when I felt the misery of her leaving. I took the moment to remember her and picture her beauty in my mind. When I opened my eyes, I saw her again, smiling and leaning close to me.

I smiled. "I miss you, Kitty."

"I've missed you, too, Ethan."

I winced. I felt her breath touch my face. I closed my eyes again. I must have been thinking about her too much. When I opened my eyes, I saw her still smiling at me. I cringed in fear.

"You look scared."

My eyes widened in horror. "Y-You can talk."

"Of course, I can talk."

"Y-You're...gone, right? Y-You're just my imagination," I asked, scared.

She smirked at me. Before I knew it, she planted a kiss on my lips. Her lips weren't cold, but warm.

"Try again," she said, smirking.

I frowned. "Y-You...you died. I was there. You died in my arms."

"Technically, I did not. My heart just...gave up. Until a year ago, I was booted up. I had a heart donor, Ethan," she explained.

She nodded. "I had to recover for a year. Sleeping for a year and then waking up to live the next year are both not easy."

I chuckled. "I thought you were a ghost."

"I figured," she chuckled.

I hauled her into my arms and kissed her head.

"Tell me, you're not leaving me again," I muttered.

"This heart is only good for a year," she joked.

When I groaned, she laughed.

"I love you, Kitty."

"I love you, Ethan."
