Lexi’s POV.

Harry instantly came bursting into the room, as I let out a strangled wail of defeat. I couldn’t do it without Louis. I couldn’t.

“Lexi, hey Lexi, it’s alright love.” Harry said, hurrying over and hugging me gently towards him. “He’s not gone for long, I swear.”

I sobbed into Harry’s t-shirt, not caring when the next contraction came. Jo and mum entered the room after Harry, both now wearing latex gloves and were followed closely by the midwife.

“Harry’s explained where Louis’ gone.” Mum said, coming round to the other side of me and kissing my forehead. I stopped crying, and looked at her.

“Wait… you know?” I asked, completely surprised. She nodded and smiled slightly. “He’s told all of us. Well, the Louis from the future did, anyway.” She chuckled slightly. “But as inconvenient his timing is, you need to have this baby now. He’ll be back honey.” She added quietly, and I nodded.

I shifted out from Harry’s arms a little, and propped my legs up so mum and Jo were holding my feet.

“Ok.. Now when I say push, push for me, hard as you can, ok?” The midwife said, kneeling down at the end of the bed. I gulped, grabbed Harry’s hand, and nodded.

This was it.

Louis’ POV.

Where the hell was I?

What the hell happened?

These two questions were swimming around my mind, as I stood up shakily from whatever it was had just happened. I looked around me, to see I was in what looked like the Globe Theatre, in London.

I had to get back to Lexi. She needed me. How could I just leave her like that?

“She’s alright.” An echoing voice said behind me.

I spun around to face the stage, where I saw a man standing, old, and frail looking as he carefully stood up from where he’d been sitting on the edge of the stage.

“Who are you?” I asked, moving backwards ever so slightly.

“Who do you think I am?” the old man chuckled, extending his arms out to his sides. I looked him up and down, and shrugged.

“I don’t know. But I’ve got a feeling I know you- as if I met you before.” I said, uncertain of my own words.

The old man chuckled again- he seemed to like laughing.

“Well, you could say we’ve met before, Louis.” He smiled, moving forwards. I didn’t back away this time.

“The year is 2000, it’s the 1st of January, in fact. Millennium year. As I’ve got older, I’ve learnt to control my powers, just as you will, so I am able to go where I choose. And I chose this date because I knew you’d be here.” He said, stopping when he was just in front of me.

“Powers?” I questioned.

He smiled, and chuckled again.

“You’re a time traveler, Louis.”

Harry’s POV.

“You’re almost there, Lexi.” I whispered, kissing her temple.

She was my best mate’s world, it was obvious how much she meant to him. That’s why I’m here- because he asked me to be. If it was anyone else, I don’t think I would have done it.

But when someone means so much to someone you love, you do anything to help them.

Her face was screwed up and she was groaning as she pushed and pushed.

“There’s the head!” Hannah exclaimed, looking up at Lexi with her eyes alight with excitement. Lexi shook her head.

“I can’t do it. I need Louis.” She cried out, letting her head fall back onto the pillows behind her. I took her hand in mine.

“He’s coming love. Don’t you worry, he’s coming.” I said.

“One last push darling, and you’ll have your baby boy.” The midwife encouraged, her hands on the baby’s head.

Lexi pushed and pushed and pushed, and suddenly-

Hannah’s POV.

A strangled cry filled the room, as the midwife held up the baby for Lexi to see.

My eyes filled with tears at the sight of the tiny boy squirming as it took it’s first breaths. Jo looked at me as she put down Lexi’s leg, her eyes also filled to the brim with tears.

“Well done darling!” I gushed, rushing round to Lexi’s side as she cradled the baby to her chest. Harry was also crying, although he seemed to be pretending he wasn’t.

“There’s no shame in crying, you know.” Jo teased, and Harry faked an offended look.

“My best friend- no, my brother’s baby has just been born, I’m perfectly fine to cry.” He said, with a shaky laugh at the end. He looked back at Lexi, who was sobbing her heart out over her tiny son.

“He’ll be back any minute now. I swear.” He said, wiping his own tears away.

Lexi nodded, and smiled up at him. “Harry- I know we’ve asked all you boys to be godfathers, but- we’re naming him after your middle name.” She said, bringing more tears to Harry’s eyes. “Edward James Jawaad Tomlinson.” She whispered, her smile almost bursting from her face.

Harry broke down, as Lexi handed him tiny little Edward, and as he cradled him in his arms, the door burst open.

Louis’ POV.

He was here.

Lexi’s POV.

Louis burst through the door, his eyes wide and expectant, and filled with tears once he saw Harry holding his baby son.

“Eddie…” He whispered, moving forwards towards where we all were. The midwife held out the scissors to Louis.

“You want to cut the cord?” She offered, smiling kindly. He took them with shaking hands, and cut the umbilical cord where she showed him to.

Harry smiled as Louis put the scissors down, and carefully, with the help of Jo, wrapped Eddie in a towel and handed him to Louis.

His eyes welled up, and he had to sit down on the bed next to me, not caring that a lot of the towels were dirty with blood from the birth. “Edward.” He whispered in awe, as the little boy sniffled and scrunched up his nose.

“Ahem, I do believe it’s actually Edward James Jawaad Tomlinson, Lou.” Harry joked, wiping his eyes with his jumper sleeve. Louis chuckled, and smiled.

I wanted to ask him where he’d gone, once we’d all cleaned up, but I didn’t know when I’d have the time.  For now, we were all happy.
