Louis’ POV.

School’s not so bad anymore- Lexi’s drawn back, and I’m- well I suppose you could say I’m king of the school.

Some people say I act childish, that my antics are immature, but hey, who says I plan on growing up? Not me, that’s for sure.

However, although I have girls after me, I’ve remained single since my break up with Gemma. I think that’s mostly because, honestly, Lexi is still on my mind, almost 24/7…

But she’s been avoiding me. Or I’ve been avoiding her. Or we’ve both been keeping distance.

I put money on the last one.

But some seriously strange things have happened over the weekend. For one, I keep running into this guy who constantly talks about Lexi, to the point I’ve taken to wearing headphones everywhere, so I can pretend I don’t hear him… Mean, I know, but it’s starting to sound like a scratched record.

Secondly, I swear to god I’ve had this old guy peering at me, in anger or in a sexual way, I don’t really know. And I don’t know which one I’d prefer.

On my way back from walking round town, I passed Lexi’s house, where I once again heard crying from inside.

Remembering what had happened last time, I hesitantly pulled out both my headphones, and walked slowly up the path to the front door, which was once again, ajar.

“Hello?” I called out, pushing the door more open slightly. The crying stopped for a second, before a strangled sob burst out again, as if the crier couldn’t help them self. I walked cautiously into the house and to the living room door, where I could see a woman, probably in her mid forties, bent over her legs, crying and clutching her stomach. “Are you Mrs Freed?” I asked uncertainly, moving into the room and crouching down next to her. She nodded ever so slightly, but continued crying.

I felt terrible for her. I sat down next to her and put my arm around her in comfort, letting her head fall onto my shoulder as she cried harder. I noticed her hands never left her stomach, so I carefully moved my hands to try and pry hers away. But they didn’t budge, and she stiffened slightly.

“Please, Mrs Freed. I want to help.” I said soothingly, and managed to move her hands away from her stomach to lift up her shirt.

“Oh my.” I said, feeling al little faint when I saw the wounds that covered her stomach. Bruises, cutes, gashes, and the whole stomach was swollen as if- there was a baby inside…

“Mrs Freed, please forgive my audacity here, but are you pregnant?” I asked slowly, and blanched as she nodded. “Shit.” I muttered, and moved her weight off me slightly so I could access my phone from my back pocket. “Listen, Mrs Freed, I know you probably don’t want to come with me now, so I’m going to call you an ambulance.” I said, typing 999 as fast as I could. She whimpered in protest, but I was already asking for an ambulance.

Once I’d explained the situation, I put my phone in my pocket again, and grabbed a cushion from behind me. “Here, put this on for pressure.” I said softly, placing it on her stomach and putting her hands on top of it, so she was in control of the pressure. “How far along are you?” I asked, remembering what my mum told me about keeping the patient distracted when she taught me first aid. “Four months.” She whispered, blinking slowly to let a stray tear fall. “You’re looking good for that far along. Hey now.” I said quickly, as her head started to loll. “You have to stay awake for me now. For the little one.”

The sound of the door slamming shut made us both jump, and the sound of feet running up the stairs made me realise who it was. Despite how she was going to react, I had to get her down to know. “Lexi!” I yelled, and I heard the footsteps stop, before running back down the stairs again. Her furious face appeared at the living room door. “Louis, what the hell- mum?” She changed track, concern flooding her face when she saw what I was dealing with.

“Louis, what happened?” She asked, her voice breaking as she crouched down in front of her mum. Before I could reply, the ambulance siren could be heard outside. “Look, I’ll explain to you when the paramedics ask, to save time.” I said desperately, as the front door was kicked open.

“Mrs Freed? Louis?”  A female voice called out, and Lexi replied. “In here! Please come quickly!” Desperation was evident in her tone.

The paramedics came through and immediately I stood up and let them do there thing.

“Miss, you need to move please. We can’t help her unless you move, I’m sorry.” The blonde girl said urgently to Lexi, who hadn’t moved. I leant down and gently tugged her up and hugged her tightly from behind. “No” She hissed, kicking at my legs, but I held her firm. “HE DID THIS! IT’S ALL HIS FAULT!” She screamed, tears now pouring down her face as the paramedics lifted her mum onto a stretcher and attached her to a drip. “Louis? Could you please follow the ambulance- do you have the means?” The blonde girl asked. I shook my head, but suddenly a thought flashed across my mind. “I live like a minute away from here, I could get my mum to drive us.” I said. The paramedics lifted Mrs Freed up on the stretcher and hurried out of the house and into the van with her. “Could you do that please? We need to ask both you and Lexi some questions, and these wounds suggest she’s been attacked.” She said quickly, following the group.

Lexi broke free of my grasp and ran after them. “She’s pregnant! She needs to be ok, she’s pregnant.” She cried out, before falling to the ground in tears, clutching the doorframe to keep her torso upright. I gently picked her up as the blonde girl yelled her thanks, and the ambulance drove off.

“Come on, Lexi. We need to get to mine.” I urged her, but when she didn’t move, I picked her up bridal style and hurried down the road, shutting the door behind us.

It didn’t take long, and we were soon in the car with mum driving to the hospital at psycho speed.

My only thoughts were for Lexi, and how sorry I was for her. I knew who she meant when she said he did this. The guy who’d been eyeing me up for some odd reason.

He must have been her father.

(Other) Louis’ POV.

My head suddenly fell down, uncontrollably, as a sharp pain shot through. The crowd screamed, as Harry came next to me, giving his solo to Niall, and gently tipped my chin upright.

“You ok?” He asked, making sure his mic was no where near his mouth. I swallowed thickly, and nodded carefully, as the pain went away.

My past, my memories had changed. Something had happened that wasn’t meant to happen.

And it was to do with Lexi.
