Lexi’s POV.
It’s a boy!
We’re having a boy!
It’s Christmas day now, 9am, and Louis’ still fast asleep- I think I’m the only one up!
As quietly as I could, I got out of bed, and hurried to the bathroom. Because of the way my baby boy was sitting, he was putting a lot of weight on my bladder, making me need to pee pretty much 24/7.
When I got back to my bed, I noticed Louis wasn’t there. Weird.
I pulled out my Christmas outfit (a large jumper with a sleigh and reindeer on it and blue jeans), and brushed out my hair, before heading downstairs.
It was a lot warmer downstairs than up, and I was greeted by-
“MERRY CHRISTMAS!”
I stumbled back in surprise, as the entire Tomlinson family, my mum, and Louis were all seated in the living room, wearing Christmas hats, and blowing those party things.
I gaped, my hand cradling my bump as everyone laughed at my shocked expression. Louis moved over towards me, and put one arm around my shoulders, and his hand over my bump. “We thought, seeing as it’s Christmas, and given what a year and a bit it’s been for you, we’d celebrate with a minor Baby Shower… then my mum got given the job of inviting people, and this lot turned up.” He added, winking at me and gaining a few laughs from his grandparents.
I smiled at him, and pecked his lips.
Little Dragon started kicking quite hard, and Louis, whose hand was still on my belly, froze, and stared at his hand. “That was-?” He said quietly. He hadn’t yet felt his baby kick, as since Louis had gotten home Dragon had been the calmest he’d been yet. My smile grew wider, and I nodded.
Louis’ eyes shining, he dropped to his knees so his face was level with my tummy. By this point, everyone had started up their own conversations, and only my mum and Jo were actually watching us.
“Little baby boy. I told the boys all about us.” He added, after a moment of silence. I stared at him, surprise evident in my eyes as he chuckled. “Don’t worry- they’re keeping silent. They’re so happy for us- although Harry requested we name him after him- he came up with Harriet and Edwina for girls.” He laughed, and I couldn’t hlp but laugh too.
“Edwina? Seriously?” I laughed, holding on to my bump as it shook with laughter.
I wont lie, I felt like Santa Claus then.
“But why Edwina? Is his middle name Edward or something?” I asked, once I’d vaguely calmed down. Louis nodded. “Yes, it is actually.” He mused, pulling up a chair from behind him and offering it to me. I gratefully smiled and sat down, my back and feet starting to really ache.
“Well- I don’t mind Edward as a name. Eddie, as a nickname or something.” I pondered aloud. Louis looked at me, his eyes twinkling with excitement.
“Edward. I like it.” He said, kissing me deeply.
“Ewww!” Phoebe and Daisy squealed from their spot not too far away from us. We broke apart, grinning like cats with cream, as everyone started handing out presents. I looked over to my mum, and smiled at her.
Out of all the people, including me, she was definitely the bravest. But I could still see it, behind her happy eyes, her fear- fear that my father would return.
And well, I just couldn’t let that happen.
Louis’ POV.
It definitely was a marry Christmas.
We announced the name of our baby after watching the Queen’s Speech; it was funny, and cute, because Daisy and Phoebe dressed up as Queens to announce it.
But around 6pm, I noticed Lexi was flailing a little. She’d look intensely interested in a conversation, but her eyes would remain glassy- classic giveaway.
Being her mighty hero, just kidding, I apologized to my Gran, who she was talking to, and pulled her gently out into the hallway.
“I thought you might like to be rescued there, m’lady.” I murmured, kissing her nose softly.
She smiled, stifling a yawn as best she could. “Thanks Louis. I owe you.” She said sleepily, taking my hand and squeezing it.
I lead her upstairs, making sure I caught eye contact with my mum to make sure she didn’t panic when she realized we’d vanished from the party. I helped her changed into her Christmas pajamas before lying down next to her in bed.
“Merry Christmas, Set-me-free.” I teased, kissing her nose as she huffed in annoyance.
“There we go, knew you were still the same old Louis on the inside.” She muttered, a soft smile playing on her lips as her eyes drifted shut. I chuckled slightly, as her breathing started to deepen and even out.
“Turn around, bright eyes, every now and then I fall apart, and I need you now tonight, and I need you more than ever, and if you only hold me ti-i-ight, we’ll be holding on forever, and we’ll only be making it ri-i-ight, and we’ll never be wrong, together we can take it to the end of the line, your love is like a shadow on me all of the time, I really need you tonight, forever’s gonna start toni-i-ight, forever’s gonna start-
Once upon a time I was falling in love, now I’m only falling apart. Nothing I can do, total eclipse of the heart…”
I sang softly, kissing her cheek at the end before carefully raising myself from the bed and creeping back downstairs.
Life was alright, really.
