Chapter 6

I woke up to my alarm blaring. It must be time for work. I groaned out loud because all I wanted to do was hide away forever.

I didn't want to face Darren again because I knew he saw our dream since he created it. Yet I couldn't let this stupid mate bond ruin my life.

I always work the Saturday morning shift at Bobby's since it was the busiest shift. I needed to hurry up and shower before I was late.

I dragged myself out of my bed and to my door. I opened the door slowly, peeking out. There was no sign of Darren. Huh, maybe he left.

I started towards my bathroom when my front door opened and Jack walked in.

"Ugh, go away." I said.

"You don't mean that." Jack said.

"Yea, I do. You lied about our friendship."

"No I didn't. You are still my friend. I'm sorry it started the way it did but I do not regret it." Jack replied.

I looked at him suspiciously. I didn't trust him since he took orders from Darren but he was the only person I had besides my grandmother.

"Why are you here?" I asked.

Jack looked at the ground and shifted his feet.

"Darren wants me to drive you to and from work."

"Oh does he now? Tell him to go to hell." He said.

"He really isn't that bad, Gracie."

I looked at him, then turned on my heel heading for the bathroom. I needed to take a shower and all these wolves were putting me in a bad mood.

The ride to Bobby's was a silent one. I didn't want to really talk to Jack because of his betrayal but if I had to be stuck with him night as well use it.

"I need a ride to somewhere after work." I said, breaking the silence.

"Where to?" Jack eyed me suspiciously.

"To my grandmother's house. I told you she use to tell me stories of wolves. I think she might know something."

"Yeah, I mean with you not being all human." Jack replied.

"What did you just say?" I asked frightened.

"You aren't all human. There is some supernatural blood in your family or you couldn't be a mate. Sometimes if a wolf doesn't find their mate they can mate humans but most of the time isn't either another wolf or another supernatural being. I thought you were human but I started thinking about last night and your grandmother's stories. Humans don't know things like that, Gracie."

My breaths were short and they hurt. I think I was having a heart attack but I wasn't sure.

"What am I then?" I asked looking at Jack's calm face.

"Well isn't that the question." He replied as he parked the car in front of my work.
