Chapter 17

I woke up back in my granny room, which I was really getting tired of doing. If I was going to be staying here, this room needed a makeover. It took me a second to realize the events that led up to this moment and that is when I tried to immediatley forget.

I basically got baptized in a swimming pool by a werewolf. I felt way too warm and still a little tingly. Other than that I felt like my normal self.

I opened my eyes and wiggled from the bed, trying to muster some sort of bravery. They really should learn by now to have someone guard me or something, obviously Darren had nothing but empty threats.

I tried the knob and it was locked.

"What the hell?" I said.

I yanked at the knob and the door still refused to open.

My temper flared as I took a step back and kicked the door with all my might. Nothing happened so I kicked again and again.

"Ugh!!!!" I let my foot fly forward with all of my strength and the damn thing flew forward across the hall in a splintery mess.

"Uh oh."

I peeked through the opening as four werewolves ran down the hall. Darren was one of them.

"What did you do?" he demanded when he reached me.

"I don't know, I just kicked!" I replied.

"Downstairs, now!" he yelled at me. Well our 'moment' seemed to be over.

The others moved out of the way for me to move by them. I went down the stairs, Darren breathing down my neck the whole time. I really loathed being ordered around.

"You could learn to say please every now and then. It really wouldn't kill you." I said to Darren.

"My house. My pack. My rules."

I guess the cute, concerned Darren was gone once again. I needed to keep a time log or something to keep track of this emotional roller coaster.

I reached the end of the stairwell and turned around to face him. The three wolves from the hallway had followed which mean I would have an audience. Good.

"I am NOT part of the pack. I WILL NOT be ordered around and after all the traumatic experiences I have had in the last few days I would suggest you back the fuck off!" I yelled and as I yelled the pictures on the wall broke.

The unknown wolves flinched away from the glass but Darren was unphased. Figures.

Darren bent at the waist so we were eye to eye. I felt a rage like no other coming.

"Please go into the livingroom and please sit down and PLEASE keep your rebellious comments to yourself or I will find a way for you to do so."

"I think I almost like the bossing around better." I mumbled but I knew he could hear me. Stupid wolf.

I made my way to the livingroom where Jack and my grandmother were, a few wolves were sitting on the various couches but I didn't know any of them.

"Oh hey Gran, thanks for almost killing me when you seemed so concerned with my health moments before the treacherous act."

"Stop with your sarcasm, Grace Ann. It is getting old." she replied.

I fell onto the couch with a loud thump and waited for my dear mate to start barking. Literally I hoped because I needed a good laugh. Unfortunately it was my grandmother who took charge.

"Grace, your powers are new and very powerful. You do not know how to control them and that is what we really need you to do at a time like this. So I have brought help..."

In that moment everyone's heads snapped up to the entrance to see a new arrival. That new arrival just happened to be the redhead who gave me a ride the day before.

"Cara?" I asked in disbelief. "What is going on?"

"I'm a witch and when you came up to me at school the other day, I knew that guy was a werewolf and he was dangerous. After I dropped you off I called your grandmother. I wasn't trying to deceive you, I wanted to help.", Cara said.

"Do I know ANY humans? Why am I constantly being looked after like a fragile child?!" I asked angered.I knew that tingly feeling was something.

"Quiet down, Grace." My grandmother chided.

"No I won't. None of you people have been honest, people are befriending me for ulterior motives, strange men are chasing me, I can't get a second alone and you think I should quiet down?" A bookcase behind me started to rumble with my power. I continued, "There will be no more lying, there will be no more deceit and there will be no more of this crazy bullshit! I'm officially done with this!"

I started moving toward the door a Darren tried to grab me. I flung my hand up to get away from his reaching hand and he was propelled backwards by an invisible force. I should have stopped but I felt like he was okay so I kept walking. Everyone else moved to let me go, I knew they would never really let me go for good but I needed away from it all. So I didn't what any normal person would do at ten in the morning, I went to class.
