CHAPTER 10: Avoiding

Ariana

Ever since that day when Bethany told me to stay away from Rowan... things had been really difficult. It pains me so much ignoring him. But it's all for Lannie's sake. All for Lannie.

Ms. Harper transferred me to room 650 which is located in the second floor. My roommates were thankfully, Melanie who went all happy knowing we'd be in the same room and another girl named, Sheila Chaz. It was lucky their other roommate decided the cooking life wasn't for her and went out to become a lawyer. However... room 650 was all decorated with a girl's touch. There was a vase of daisies near the windowsill, some pink ribbons dangling with wind chimes, a fuchsia lip couch and a rack full of gossip magazines. For some reason, I miss room 657 with it's simpleness. Ro and I agreed the room doesn't really need that much decorations except for the white curtains hung on the windows and a clock that had a spoon-and-fork hands.  I missed my old desk, my comfy bed, Ro's laughs, Ro's smiles, Ro's eyes...

"Ari, are you listening?!" Lannie waves a hand in front of my face. "Do you like the room?"

I simply nodded blankly. "Yeah... I do."

Lannie did not look convinced. "Hey, let's get you settled down. Sheila and I can help you with the unpacking."

And they did, I was thankful for them both but questions couldn't help being asked.

"Um... Ariana, I don't mean to pry but what really happened during lunch time?" Sheila asks causing me to go rigid.

I gave here a small smile and shook my head. "It was just a small misunderstanding but she did spill the water on herself."

"Wait, what are you two talking about?" Lannie demands feeling lost in the conversation.

"Bethany and I had a little skirmish and she spilled water on herself." I explained causing Lannie's eyes to widen. "It was nothing really except for the fact the whole campus thinks I was at fault."

"What? Why did you have to go with Bethany? I mean, there is Ro or Nick and his friends."

I shrugged my shoulders.

"I knew there was something fishy with Bethany!" Lannie exclaims. "Someone like you don't just spills water on people to get their attention."

"Yeah... I thought it was also odd why someone like Ariana would do that." Sheila adds as she folded a t-shirt.

For five minutes I sat listening to Sheila and Lannie back-biting Bethany Keillon. I made a mental note not to get on their bad side.

"I've always wanted to ask this but I always forget." Lannie tells me. "Who was your previous roommate again?"

I gulped. "Uh... Rowan Colave?"

"NO WAY!" Sheila and Lannie chorused.

"You were roommates with ROWAN COLAVE?!" Sheila demands. "The super-hot ROWAN COLAVE?"

I laughed at her description. "Well, I WAS roommates with Rowan Colave."

"How come you never told me?" Lannie says frowning.

"You never asked." I answer as I crossed my legs.

"Oh my gosh, did you kiss?" Sheila asks before gasping. "Did you guys sleep together?"

"NO!" I exclaimed. "Ugh, Sheila, nothing happened."

And so most of my nights were this lively having Sheila and Lannie by my side. With such ecstatic people around me, I still didn't understand why I felt so sad.
