CHAPTER 17: Back Again
Ariana
Ro and I found ourselves back to the beginning. The beginning where I walked in the door (my luggage minus Nick and Jamie) and found him reading on his bed (but this time he was lying instead of sitting). I felt a wave of nostalgia as he looked up, confused just as he was the first day we met. He ignored me most of the time before we actually knew each other and I missed all the fights we had over little things. But this time, he greeted me with a smile.
"Ari," he closed his book. "You looking for something?"
I gulped. "No... I'm uh, back?" It sounded like a question and I tried to correct my faux pas. "I mean, I'm your roommate again."
It took him five excruciating seconds to comprehend what I was saying.
"What?" he looked surprised as to why I was able to come back again. After the faculty concluded it wasn't "proper" to have both of us in the same room, of course he'd be confused as to why I'm back to being his roommate again. Of course, they too overlooked Gwen's lodgings as they did mine a long time ago.
I fidgeted. "Um, I'm your roommate again."
He shook his head. "Yeah, I heard the first part but... how?"
What was I supposed to say to him? That I traded places with his childhood friend because I couldn't stand the thought of both of them sharing the same room? Plus, Gwen is (A) A Gorgeous redhead who has an impressive boyfriend history (B) Who also traveled half-way across the world because she misses him (C) In LOVE with him and has future plans for both of them. Way into the future sort of plans.
But then again, I wonder how Gwen would react if she finds out...
I shudder.
I sigh. Might as well tell him the truth.
"I'm here because I traded places with Gwen." the words felt like a lump on my throat. I could barely get them out.
Ro closed his book. "You traded places with Gwen?"
"The only place left in Cinnamon was yours but Gwen couldn't take it because if her parents find out she has a guy as a roommate, she'd be sent back to Paris in an instant. After having to come all the way from there just to go back... that would really suck." I finished lamely.
Ro just laughed. He laughed! As if everything is going to be alright. As if I wont get transfered to another room once the faculty finds out.
"I don't mind having you back." The way he said it was so sincere, so casual yet honest. It's the exact words you'd want to hear from Ro.
He ruffles my hair and helped me with my luggage despite how easily I could've handled it myself.
"So... you switched with Gwen huh?" Ro says as he set up the picture frames on my nightstand.
I blushed, still embarrassed of the fact that of all people to switch with Gwen, it would be me.
"Yeah, I already said that!" I say hastily as I stuffed my clothes in my dresser.
"So did you switch with her because your a saint?" Ro questions, a teasing smile on his devilishly handsome face.
"A saint?"
"Or is it because you missed me?"
I choked on my own spit. Without meaning to, I threw something from my luggage at him in my fury and it landed square on his face. I regretted my actions as soon as I realized what I just threw at him.
