"Max!" I scream as a dark figure pounds in her before I realize who it is.
The mix of screams and growls pound in my ears as the smell of metal fills the air.-Blood.
It happens so fast that all I can do is watch as Ari digs his hand from behind our big sister, her eyes wide and blood trickling from the sides of her mouth. It's like he has been waiting his whole entire life for this. Like he was born to see the end of Maximum Ride.
Another shadow passes by me. This time, Fang, who screams with rage, swinging on Ari. Ari pushes him off with a roar, Max collapsing to the ground as he makes his way towards me.
I know he's going to try to kill me. I know he's going to try to kill me like he just killed Max, but still I can't move.
"Jesse! Watch out!" Fang says, helpless as he holds my big sister.
Seconds later, my instinct finally kick in. I try and let my shadows out so they can end him before he ends me, but suddenly I feel a sharp pain. It feels as if someone has fed me a cake, but inside the cake is steaming shards of glass. I scream in agony as I watch my shadows disperse in every which way. Instead of coming from my stomach, it came from my ears, my my mouth, and nose just as Ari is two inches away from me.
All I can watch as Ari wails, his eyes growing wide as the shadows seep through him, working their magic .
Sweat creeps through my eyes as the shadows continue to pour through me.
The last thing I see is the faint image of Fang holding Max while the others fight the Erasers.
