France is cold, too cold. I shiver, having bought a parka sweater and boots, but I am still a little chilly. My breath floats into the air as I use my senses to track down the Flock. If I had an Eraser, it would easier for me, but I only have me, and birds are much better with their eyesight than smell.
The warm, cozy aroma of crêpes and other baked goods fill my nose, and I suddenly feel hungry.
I head into a bakery called Monsieur Jaque. Inside, a group of teens sit all in the corner, drinking coffee and tea while munching on chocolate éclairs.
"Bonjour, Mademoiselle! Comment allez vous aujourd'hui?" (Hello, Miss. How are you todayh?" a smiling man greets. An old smiling man who looks sweet.
"Bonjour, Monsieur." I smile. "Je bien, et tois?"( I am well, and you?)
The man smiles. "Je tres bien!!" (I am very well.!) And then he switches to English. "You speak really well. You have been here for quite a well?"
I nod my head. "You can say that." I smile. Then I look down at all the varieties. There are chocolate and strawberry eclairs and crêpes, quiches, and all of it just makes me way to hungry to think about it any more.
In the end, I choose a strawberry éclair and hot chocolate.
I don't even take a chance to eat, though I am very hungry. I am too busy focusing on tracking the Flock down.
My vision blocks out the many pedestrians and tourists. My vision darkens then focuses on seven figures about two miles away.
Waiting until I find a dark narrow alleyway, I walk down it. Kneeling down, I close my eyes, summoning my shadows.
Like serpents, they slither out of me, heading for my targets. They are so many and so loud that the vibration sounds like whispers who whisper the sweet nothings of terror to my ears.
As soon as I open my eyes and smirk, they speed up heading for their target.
I swear I can hear the screams of Max, Fang, Nudge, Total, Gazzy, Iggy, and even Angel.
