Barry Allen walked out of the club to get some air. His eyes darted to his watch and he saw that it had just turned midnight. He looked up towards the night sky and saw it illuminated by the light of a thousand stars. It was always beautiful this time of year in Central City.
He had lived here his whole life and he loved the city. It was his home. It had only been two weeks since the first semester had started at Central City university but already all of his friends had insisted on hitting every club and bar in the area, luckily it was a Friday, it wasn't his ideal idea of fun but it wasn't awful. He just preferred a quiet night in with a movie and pizza.
The club was situated right on the edge of the city by the coastline only a few paces walk away. He looked back down and straight ahead and saw a dark shadow of what seemed to be a person sat on the edge of the pier. Curiously, he took a couple steps forward and saw that it was a young woman that looked about his age. She definitely didn't come from the club as she was wearing a deep crimson red dressing gown with most likely pajamas underneath.
Just to see that she was alright, he took the last few steps forward.
"Hey, are you okay?" he asked her and she turned her head in his direction. He had to admit that she was really pretty.
"Oh yes, I'm fine. I was just watching the stars," she replied. Her accent, it was strange. Certainly not from Central City. Why she was out here puzzled him and he was immediately curious about the young woman in front of him. He had surely never met her before now, he would have remembered her if he had for sure.
"Well, do you want some company?" he asked, giving in to the desire to find out who she was. She just seemed interesting. He had lived in Central City for so long that he never met interesting people like her very often. The opportunity was too good to miss.
"Yeah, sure," she shrugged and he sat beside her and they sat in silence for a moment just watching the stars and not saying anything to each other. Every few seconds, he would avert his eyes to her face for a split second then would quickly return his gaze back to the stars.
"My name is Barry Allen," he commented, hoping to find out who she was by starting the conversation. He had barely spent any time with her but he could already sense that she was a very shy individual.
"Caitlin Snow," she replied, rubbing the back of her neck slightly then softly nibbling on her lower lip and he had to force himself not to stare at her action.
"What are you doing here? Are you a student at the university?" he asked, his curiosity getting the better of him and he couldn't help but ask. This girl intrigued him and couldn't stop himself from finding out more about her.
"Yeah, I am a first-year student at Central City University. My dorm is a few blocks away. I couldn't sleep so I just went for a walk and wound up here. I guess I was just drawn to this place, the stars are beautiful, just like back home," she replied absent-mindedly, moving her head side to side like a child. She didn't even look at him as she said it. She was completely bewitched by the stars and how they reflected on the water. It was quite endearing actually.
"I am a student at the university too. First-year just like you. I am studying forensic science. What about you?" he continued to ask her questions, hoping to find out more about her. There was something about her which was mysterious and he liked that. She was a challenge to figure out and puzzle out.
"Biochemistry and genetics. It's what I have wanted to do ever since I was little. My dream and now I finally get to go and achieve it," she smiled, this time turning her head to face him so he got a good look at it. It was a really pretty smile, just like everything else about her. Just really pretty. Not to mention how smart she must be to be studying those particular majors. She was different to any other girl he had ever met.
