Caitlin was sat in a lecture, her nose buried in a book about the genetic structures of various animals. It had been a few days since she and Barry had seen each other but they had been texting a frequent amount of times about daily life and science and other interesting topics. Soon enough, the lecture ended and Caitlin grabbed her bag off the floor, leaving the lecture hall and making a beeline to the library and sitting down at a desk and taking a notepad and textbook, opening it to the appropriate page and beginning to take notes.
She was halfway through the section on the genetic structure of the brain when she heard the sound of a deep male voice clearing their throat to her right. She looked up and saw a young man with sandy blonde hair who she recognized to be in her class. She was, however, unfamiliar with his name.
"Hey beautiful, did your dad steal the stars and put them in your eyes?" he flirted and her eyes bugged out with shock and confusion. "Do you want to go out with me sometime? I can show you the night of your life," he winked and nerves built up in her stomach and panic arose in her chest. She had never been in this situation before and honestly, she had no idea what to do. "I will pick you up at seven, tonight. Don't worry, I know where you live, babe," then he winked one last time before walking away.
Her eyes were wide with shock and fear. She had no idea who this man was and certainly did not want to go out with him, but she didn't really have a choice. Did she?
As fast as she could, she put her books in her bag and ran all the way to her dorm room and locked the door. Unfortunately, Felicity was not home and she remembered that she was out on a date with some guy she met at the student union. She wished she wasn't because Caitlin didn't want to be alone right now.
She grabbed her phone from her bag and called Barry's number in a state of panic, not sure what else to do.
"He...hey Barry," she greeted with a thick layer of worry in her tone, immediately alerting Barry that something was wrong.
"Cait, what's wrong? You sound scared," Barry asked worriedly.
"Yeah, I can explain later but can you please get here as soon as possible... I... I," she replied stuttering at every breath.
"I will be right there. Just keep talking okay," he interrupted, grabbing his car keys and walking straight out the door to his car so he could drive to wherever she was. "Where are you?"
"I am in my dorm. Just come quick. I don't know who else to call and I..."
"I will be right there okay, just hold onto the line," he interrupted, trying to comfort her. Hearing her distress forced him to act. He felt very strongly about her and didn't want to see or hear her anything less than happy.
It only took five minutes to drive to Caitlin's dorm from his own and he quickly went up to the stairs to her door then knocked.
"Cait, it's me," he called out and the door swung open and the sight in front of him made his heart break. Caitlin looked simply terrified. She grabbed him and hugged him tightly and despite the worry, he still felt the butterflies at her touch. After a few moments, she pulled away and led him inside, closing the door then locking it. "What's wrong, Cait?" he asked, sitting beside her on her bed.
"I was at the library after my last lecture. I was just studying when this guy from one of my classes approached me, I have no idea what his name is. But he was flirting with me, he said that he would pick me up at seven and that he knew where I lived and I'm just scared. I don't know whether he actually knows where I lived or who I am. I just didn't know what to do so I called you and I..." Barry pulled her in for a hug and she buried her face in his neck, closing her eyes.
