It’s been a few days and we still haven’t told Lani's dad.
Lani smiled at me as I kissed her forehead. "I think we should tell your dad," I murmured. Her smile drops. "We can't exactly hide it from him, Lani-bear."
She sighs. "I know."
I kissed her softly. "How should we tell him?"
"You can’t be there."
I blinked in surprise. "You don't want me there?"
"I do, but you just can’t be there."
I sighed. "I want to be with you, Lani-bear."
"No, I'm not risking you getting hurt."
"I won't, Lani-bear. I want to be there for you when you tell him."
"No, please Owen."
I looked at her face and kissed her softly. "But what if he gets angry at you? I won't be able to defend you if I'm here."
"Owen please stay here."
With a sigh, I nodded. "Fine, for you."
"Thank you." She kisses me.
I smiled against her lips before pulling away. "When are you going to tell him?"
"Tonight." She says.
I nodded my head. "Okay. You have to phone me straight after so I know how it goes, Lani-bear."
"I will." She hugs me. "I should go before it gets too late. Make sure to feed the twins before you put them to sleep."
I nodded. "I know how to care for the twins, Lani," I teased, kissing her forehead.
She smiles and pecks my lips before leaving.
Once the twins were fed and changed, I placed them in their cribs and kissed their foreheads goodnight. I go downstairs and sit on the couch. Sometime later there on the door and I get up and open the door. I blinked in surprise as I was pushed against the wall, making me gasp for breath.
"What the hell!" I manage to say.
"You got my little girl pregnant again?!"
"She was already pregnant."
Lani's dad tightened his hold on me before Lani pulled on his arm. "Daddy, let go of him, please!" Lani somehow gets in between us and hugs me.
I kissed her forehead. "I'm fine, Lani-bear," I murmured when she let out a small cry. "Please don't cry." She cries more. I squeezed her softly and buried my face in her hair. "Lani, please," I murmured, hating to see her cry. Her crying slowly stops, but she never moves.
Lani sniffled as she turned to face her dad. "Don't hurt him, daddy, please." His face softens and when Lani steps away, he punches me, knocking me down to the floor with me bleeding. "Dad!" Lani drops down next to me and stroked my cheek. "Owen, honey, are you okay?" I shake my head. There's going to be a bruise for a while and it hurts like hell. Lani kissed my forehead before standing up and glaring at her dad. "How dare you hit him, dad!" Her dad just stands there. "Get out," she said, pointing to the door. "Get out!"
"Lani..." he says.
"You hit him, dad," she said, narrowing her eyes. "Get out now."
"Lani, honey..."
Lani shook her head and held her hands up. "Please, just get out. I need to help Owen." He sighs and leaves, but his car doesn’t leave my driveway. Lani helped me up and kissed me softly. "I'm so sorry, Owen."
