"No, no," I kept mumbling, trying to get my phone out my pocket so I could call for an ambulance. "Lani, please, wake up!" I felt my heart pick up its pace. She would be fine, I reassured myself as I told the lady the address and what was wrong.

"Lani-bear..." I start crying. The sound of the ambulance made me quickly get up to open the door. "She's in the bathroom," I told the paramedic. "I think she fainted," I managed to tell him between the shakes going through my body. She would be fine. I call Jake and tell him to get to the house and watch the twins.

He gave me a sad smile once he arrived and patted me on the back. I nodded my head once and ran to my car. When I arrived at the hospital, I went to the nurses' station and asked where Lani was. They tell me and I run there.

The doctor looked at me in surprise. "Are you family?" he asked once I calmed my heart down.

"Fiancé," I muttered, taking a deep breath.  He nods. "Well, how is she?" I demand, not liking the way he went back to his board and ignored me.

 "She's stable."

I took a deep breath and nodded. "What happened?"

"It seems as though she blacked out due to stress."

My heart thudded twice as fast. Stress. I had told her I wouldn't get her something to eat and now she's unconscious because of stress.

"Is she going to be okay?"

"She should be," he told me, looking at his clipboard. "Might be out for a while though."

"And the baby?"

"That baby is fine," he told me, finally looking at me and giving me a tired smile. "You can go in if you want. She won't wake for a while but you're welcome to sit by her side."

"Thank you," I murmured before going into the room and taking a seat next to Lani's bed.  I kiss her hand and lace our fingers together. At some point I must have fallen asleep because when I opened my eyes again, Lani was smiling down at me and brushing my hair away from my eyes. "Lani-bear..." I murmur.

"Hey," she said quietly, running her thumb down my bruised cheek.

"Are you alright?" I ask.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Are you?" she asked, cocking her head to the side.

I nod. "You scared me Lani.."

She frowned and looked down. "I know, and I'm sorry."

I kiss her forehead. "I'm just glad you're safe." She wrapped her arms around my waist and sighed. I hold her tight. She really scared me. "Lani-bear, I'm really sorry if in anyway caused this to happen," I said quietly, feeling the tears well up again at the thought of being the reason my baby was in the hospital bed.

"Hey," she says. "You didn't do anything to cause this."

"If I had just got you food like you asked, then you would have stayed in bed with me-" she cut me off by kissing me softly. I frowned and looked at her.

"Don't blame yourself." She murmurs.

"I can't help it," I whispered against her hand. "If I was the reason.. maybe you should have gone with your dad."

"No, Owen no!"

I looked at her in surprise. "Lani, if I'm going to cause you stress, I don't want you hurt!"

"You're not causing me stress." The soft smile she gave me almost reassured me, but I still had the nagging feeling I was causing her stress. "Come here." She pats the spot next to her.
