I wake up and it’s bright. My curtains are open. I groan and pull a pillow on top of my head. I reach out for Lani when I hear someone in the bathroom. It’s Lani. I sigh and put the pillow I had on my head, on the bed. I have to get up and go help.
Just then Lani walks into my room and over to the crib. She smiles and leans down, kissing their foreheads is my guess. "Morning," she murmured, smiling over at me. "You can go back to sleep if you want, I can deal with the twins."
"It's fine, I can help." I sat up and wrapped my arms around her, looking down at the twins. I see them holding hands. I beam and kiss Lani's cheek. "Hopefully they will stay like this." I whisper.
"Holding hands?" she asked, turning her head to look up at me.
"Stay little, cute, love being with each other."
She chuckled. "I doubt they'll stay little with how tall you are," she teased, linking her fingers with mine.
I chuckle. "I guess we'll just have to wait and find out."
She kissed my neck, since she couldn't reach my cheek, and looked down at the twins. "I hope they aren't too tall," I heard her say quietly. "They would tower over me."
"I don't think that they will be too tall, maybe some height in between us."
Her head rested against my chest. "Maybe," she said in between a yawn. "Knowing my luck, they'll take after you and I'll be the small midget of the family."
I rub her back. "You don't know that Lani-bear. Our other little one could be small and so could Nicole and Matt."
She turned around in my arms and hugged me. "I think I'd like them if they took after you," she murmured.
"Why do you want them to take after me Lani-bear? "
"Then they'll be tall and smart," she murmured in an obvious tone. I looked down at her to see her eyes were drooping.
I scoop her up on my arms and carry her over to the bed. "You need to sleep Lani-bear." I whisper, kissing her forehead.
"I don't," she mumbled, her eyes sliding close. "I need to care for the twins."
"The twins are fine, you have to sleep." I kissed her softly. "Sleep, Lani," I said quietly, standing up straight.
"Stay with me until I fall asleep?" She murmurs.
"Of course, Lani-bear," I said quietly, laying down next to her and pulling her into my arms. She snuggles up to me and she falls asleep after a few minutes. I ran my fingers through her hair and kissed her head. Things were finally going okay, I thought to myself. It’s almost the same as it was before she broke is up. I frowned as I looked down at her. She wouldn't do it again, would she? I hope she doesn't. I don't think I can handle that again.
Lani's hand tightened on my shirt as she moved closer. "I'm sorry," she mumbled.
"What?" I ask confused. Her eyes fluttered as she dreamed. What was she apologizing for? What could she be dreaming about?
