Arias POV
I couldn't sleep. I shared a tent with Liz and Ele, of course.
It was freezing cold, so I silently grabbed my hoodie.
Then all of a sudden it became burning hot.
I kept twisting and turning, not knowing what to do to get some rest.
Liz silently snores, fast asleep, and Ele curled up into a ball, sorta drooling on her pillow. Gross.
I finally decided enough was enough. I can't sleep.
I found my shoes and carefully unzipped the tent door.
I peeked outside.
It was a clear night, a beautiful full moon, bright stars, and all of it reflecting onto the lake.
"Beautiful.." I breathed to myself.
I grabbed a flashlight and decided to walk around a bit. Might as well take advantage of being wide awake.
I found this tree, slightly taller than the rest.
Well. Why not.
Next thing you know, I'm on the top branch.
The view was even better from the ground.
From here, you could see the camp.
The lights looked like tiny fireflies that gleamed.
You could see the water slowly moving from the light breeze that pulled the hair away from my face.
It was truly an amazing world.
I closed my eyes and breathed it all in.
I rested my hands on the branch, and relaxed.
Until the touch of someone else shocked me back into reality, nearly knocking me out of your private little view.
"SHI-"
"Shhhh.. Im sorry I-.. I didn't mean to scare you.."
I opened my eyes.
The view became even more gorgeous than before.
"Oh- Uh-.. of course not.. No its.. Its totally fine. Sorry if I uh.. woke you."
He smiled, and moved his hand off of mine.
"No.. I couldn't sleep either.. I uh, actually heard you walking around and I guess coming here definitely beats listening to Greg's snoring.."
"Mason.."
Saying his name made me shudder at myself.
Just the feel of his name escaping my mouth made the feel of embarrassment crawl up my spine.
Especially when he's the one I'm speaking to.
"Yes?"
"Why.. Why did you follow me here? Its super late.."
"I know.. And, its actually kind of early."
"Wha- really? How can you tell.."
He looked out into the lake, the moonlight outlining every perfect feature on his face.
"Close your eyes.. listen."
I turned and looked at him, confused.
"Uh-"
He smiled.
"Just do it."
I looked down. Then closed my eyes. I concentrated deeply as I listened closer to my surroundings.
I heard the water move.
The wind against my ear.
The leaves and branches, swaying about.
Masons breathing, just inches away.
And birds.
Not too far away, I heard the slight chirping of birds.
"You hear them?"
I opened my eyes, and smiled.
"Yeah.. Its beautiful."
"The worlds a beautiful place." Mason said, looking out.
There was a moment of silence.
I didnt mind it at all.
I just observed every single inch of the beautiful environment surrounding me and the boy of my dreams.
'I can't believe Im sitting in a tree with Mason..' I thought to myself. I smiled as I pictured Liz at the base of the tree yelling,
"K-I-S-S -I-N-G!"
I let out a slight giggle.
"What?" Mason said, smiling as he turned to me.
Whoops.
"Oh.. Its.. Its nothing. Im just happy."
He blinked, and pulled back his lips, his face forming the perfect smile that he never ceases to fail.
"Me too.."
"About?"
"Everything."
"Everything?"
"Mhmm.. Im happy about right now."
"Why?"
"Because I'm here. And you're here. Existing. In a beautiful world. We're both here, existing together in a beautiful world."
Shit, this boy is deep.
"That's.. Wow."
He mildly laughed to himself.
And with that, he placed his hand back on mine.
We both turned back again at the water.
The sky was now an orange, yellow, and pink creamy color.
Slight traces of clouds marked the sky.
Mason had picked up my hand, scooted closer to me, then set our hands down between our two legs, intertwining our fingers.
I sighed with wonder, and rested my head on his shoulder.
Mason smiled, as he twiddled with my fingers.
Out of nowhere, he began to hum.
I smiled to myself, wondering what in the world this goofball is doing.
I closed my eyes, and heard him begin to softly sing, his breath close to me, his heart beat distinct.
"I see trees off green, red roses too.
I see them bloom for, me and you..
And I think to myself..."
And there, I had finally drifted to sleep.
Yes, Mason.
What a wonderful world it is.
