As I listened to his voice, telling about himself. I closed my eyes, imaging his facial features. I envisioned his look, and opened my eyes. Beginning to draw the person. I started out with the shape, my pencil gliding easily onto the paper. I carefully shaped the mouth, and chin. I imagined him with beautiful eyes. And a tan, one that you can't get from a machine, no. One that was reached by playing in the warm sunlight.

I smiled a rare smile to myself. Comfortable in the darkness, with only the glow of my computer being the source of light. I sketched out scruffy hair, one that stuck up in different directions, but was still neat enough not to be bed head. I started filling in different, soft features, like the gentle curve of the nose, and the jaw line that wasn't quite prominent yet. But would be as he got older. The mouth was in the shape of a shy smile. Finally, I started the eyes.

How to describe the eyes. Like... like... the sea. Ones that were pure and crystal blue. But more vibrant. Like a rare turquoise. I nodded to myself, I usually do the coloring on the laptop, but the color just wouldn't be the same. After shaping the body, I examined the picture. Everything was perfect. Except... I still couldn't get the eyes right. There was something missing. I sighed and thought about it. After another good five minutes, when the kid ran out of things to say. I heard him joke around, and tell awful puns. Like, 'why don't cow's have feet?..... because they lactose.' That especially made me cringe. But it's what gave me the hint about the eyes.

They should shine. Have that look of pure innocence and joy, but a hidden sadness was required.

I drew the last detail, and scanned it. It downloaded into my saved files. Allowing me to send it to my boss and 'friend'. I got the okay, and went back to typing, and creating the details for the anime.

I was a cartoonist of some sort. I, first of all, never left the room. My main job was to listen to the words of the voice actors, and create their character based on how they sounded. It made it more authentic that way. I've almost never seen the cast. I just draw the scenes while working on certain character developments, Hanji makes the script and records the voices, and Erwin makes sure everything runs smoothly. Today someone new was hired for the show. I don't know his name. It may affect my decision for their name. I've already decided that the name will be Eren. I don't know why. But it suits the tone of his voice, and laugh, and personality. Plus the looks of the character seem like an Eren.

I text Hanji my decision and she sends a selfie of her giving a thumbs up, grinning especially maniacally. I sighed and put down the cell phone. It was going to be another long day, and it had just started.
