⚠️ WARNING TRIGGER ⚠️
Slight physical abuse warning

I coughed up more blood in the toilet, trying to be careful not to get any on the floor. I was trying to take deep breaths to calm myself down, when my phone rang. I fumbled to pick it up, and pressed the little green button, bringing the device to my ear, "hello?" My voice was scratchy and I winced at the dry pain.

"Eren?" It was Levi, my photography partner for school, "you sound like crap. You want to cancel?" My eyes widen at that, we needed to get our final project done, it's not because I wanted to go hang out with the beautiful boy that I was on the phone with.

I shook my head, before I realized he couldn't see me, "Er- no! I'm fine, thank you though. Let's meet at the usual spot...?" I offered, thinking about the old park that little kids didn't go to anymore.

"Tch. Whatever you say, Brat... Actually, why don't I pick you up? That way we can meet faster, besides, I have a new place I want to show you, I think it'll work well for our theme."

"Yeah! That, um, actually no. I can walk to your house? That could be more efficient." I was a mess, I didn't want Levi to see my bruised face quite so soon, I looked repulsive. Plus, I was going to need to sneak out from my dad, hoping that he wouldn't notice, if he did? Well, I was going to have more than just a bruised face.

"There's no reason, I'm already halfway at your house." Levi stated, my eyes widen as I scrambled to get out from the side of the toilet, tripping and almost falling several times. "I'm rounding the corner and will be there in five, be ready."

"Thanks." I deadpan, hanging up without a goodbye. I threw the phone on my bed and tried to get ready as quick as I could without making a ruckus to tip my dad off. I pulled off my bloodied white shirt and pulled on a clean dark green t-shirt. I then changed my muddy sweats to a pair of dark blue jeans. Thankfully my shoes weren't damaged like the rest of my outfit was. I saw Levi's car pull in and panicked. He didn't know my dad was home, and he always honked the horn when he was here.

I waited with dread of the loud beep, but it never came. I was relieved, but still wary. I tip toed down the steps and was about to open the front door when I felt a hand grab my wrist. I jumped and turned to see dad glaring at me, alcohol mixed into his breath.

"What do you think you're doing." He snarled, holding my wrist too tightly to pull, the best thing to do was play it off.

"Sorry, sir. My friend's picking me up to finish out final for photography." I said, trying not to shake where I was standing.

He continued to glare at me for a few more seconds, before throwing me to the ground. I landed with a thud, groaning at the landing of arms and head first. I felt my bruised seemingly grow darker. "Fine. Get out!!! Get out and NEVER COME BACK, YOU FREAK!!!" He screamed at me. I felt numb, but I ran out of there. I closed my eyes once I was finally able to get through the front door. I was so relieved, in fact, that I ran right into Levi.

Levi didn't push me away, like he usually did with any kind of physical contact, he simply caught me. "Eren? Are you okay?" I nodded, not wanting to look at him directly. But he forced me to look at him and the second I did, I could see the gears turning his head. Processing my dark, swelling bruises. Levi growled slightly and took my hand carefully, "Eren? Was it your dad?" I stared at him in shock, no one guessed. And no one cared. I thought about lying to him, but the second I made eye contact, I knew I had to tell the truth.

I nodded, not trusting myself to speak. Levi nodded, "okay... why don't you come to my house, okay?" I was surprised at the gentleness he was showing, I nod once more, and find myself being put in Levi's passenger seat. I felt safe as Levi buckled my seatbelt for me, and sped off to where he lives. I knew that Levi lived alone, so I didn't worry about what his parents would think. I was so lost in thought, that I didn't notice we pulled into his driveway.

Levi turned off the car and helped me out. We went into the house and Levi led me to the guestroom. Levi sat me down on the bed, and grabbed his old first aid kit. I remember seeing it the the first time I had came here, when we started working together on the project. He had told me he had it because when he was a freshman, he got into many fights. He won almost all of them, but came back with some nasty injuries.

Levi pulled up a chair and sat in front of me. He started to bandage me up, being careful not to hurt me anymore. At one point, when he was bringing some cotton soaked in hydrogen peroxide to my face, I flinched really badly.

He frowned and put it down. "Hey, listen to me... I'm not going to hurt you. I'm going to help you. But you have to stay still so I don't accidentally rub the cuts the wrong way" I nodded, and closed my eyes, attempting to stay still for him. I felt a pair of lips on my forehead. I didn't dare open my eyes. He pulled away, and whispered gently.

"Eren, I'm going to take care of you."
