This was it.
Eren's first day as an intern. The job was a little unusual, but paid well and that's all the still thinking college student needed for the summer. The ability to be able to travel to crazy places and get paid while doing it seemed like a marvelous idea.
He had gotten the job in an interesting way.
The circus was putting on a show in his home town, and Eren hadn't seen a circus since he was little. Armin had heard about his eagerness to go and provided Eren a ticket, along with his own so that they could go together. As friends, of course.
Eren, however, did wonder where Armin came up with the sudden tickets. As far as Eren knew, the show had sold out before his knowledge that it was even taking place. Armin had simply shrugged and said it was luck.
Eren dropped the subject after that.
The brunet always remembered the main show being his favorite. With all the different performances and acrobats, it was almost magical.
They made their way to the seats in the large tent, buzzing with excitement, sugar in their system. The lights dimmed. Eren focused all his attention to the center of the stage.
After a few seconds of silence, a bright light beamed down on a man that Eren guessed was the ringleader. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Armin grinning wider than he's ever seen, and it was focused on the man in the spotlight.
The tall man grins, "Good Evening, ladies and gentlemen. And welcome to the infamous Cirque du mystère. My name is Erwin Smith, and I am the leader of the circus. Tonight, we will show you amazing things of wonder and talent. Each performer with their own tragic back story and each one I recruited personally. Now I'd like you to turn off your phones, relax, and enjoy the show." The lights go off for a mere second, and flicker on, no trace of the ringleader, Erwin Smith.
The crowd, already hyped up, cheers. Eren hears Armin clapping enthusiastically. Eren beams, glad his best friend is enjoying himself too.
It all goes quiet, seeing movement flicker and someone bounces from behind the curtain, grinning like a maniac.
"Hello!!!" They wave enthusiastically, "my name is Hanji!!! And I am so excited to show you what I'm here for, but first!" She turns, and calls. "Moblit! Please bring Sawney and Bean out!" She puts a finger to her lips, symbolizing that we had to stay quiet. No one dared breathe.
Silently, another person, a man this time, walked out, holding two dog leashes. But they creatures that they were clipped to weren't dogs.
They were two beautiful Siberian Tigers.
Hanji confidently, but calmly walked up to the two creatures, petting them, and speaks quietly, though we all hear her. "These creatures are not pets. They are not tame animals. They are wild. Please refrain from making any noise. It may startle them, and I don't feel like losing my head" giggles and continues the show.
Hanji's performance was amazing. It had started out as a few laps, then tricks, then escalated to Hanji sticking her finger, hand, and then HEAD into the larger one's mouth.
After that, more and more acts kept coming. Along with clowns, and tight rope walkers, magic shows, and daring stunts.
But what has always been Eren's favorite as a child was yet to come.
"And now" Erwin announced, "it's time for the talented, strong, and flexible trapeze artists!"
Eren watched with even more concentration, his favorite act was up.
