"Them? Please, they don't even appreciate you. They make you stand in the back and barely tap a foot. We know that you're talented! Just... consider it? You can be great." Hanji said, handing Eren a small rectangular piece of paper with a phone number, "Levi, our leader, wants you to contact him about it, at least come see practice at the studio?"
Eren thought about it, he felt guilty, this group were suppose to be his worst enemies, no. The Cadet Dance group's worst enemy, the Survey Corps Dance Squad had done nothing to wrong him. After a few more seconds of arguing with himself, he finally nodded. "Alright, I'll do that, thanks...?"
She beamed at that, and stuck her hand out, "Zoë Hanji! But you can just call me Hanji! I look forward to seeing you at practice later today!" Eren nodded, shaking her hand, and she bounced off, catching up with her group. Eren smiled and stuck the phone number in his back pocket. He really did enjoy dancing, he'd taken jazz when he was three years old and continued for six years. At the age of nine, his instructor had nothing to teach him, and so Eren moved on to a type of pop dancing.
When he moved to this town, he wanted to keep going with, what he called, his calling. There were two major dance groups in the district, The Cadets and The Survey Corps. The Cadets despised the Survey Corps, but Eren didn't know how the Corps felt about them. They seemed pretty chill about a lot of things, but they were also a lot better and more experienced than the Cadets, too.
Eren checked his watch, and decided to head the Survey Corps studio. Knowing exactly where it was, he made his way. As he walked, he thought about one of the main performers from the competition this afternoon. There were group dances and there were the personal dancers. Usually the leader of each group was, but someone else could enter, even if they were the in the same dance studio. Eren didn't know his name, but to Eren's point of view, he looked about seventeen, and was amazing. He told a story with the way he moved, as if the song that he moved to, 'Reluctant Heroes', was his song.
(That's the song below)
Eren stopped at the entrance of the building. It was more of a giant hotel, with a studio in each one. Eren ventured in and headed up to the top floor. The floor that the Survey Corps had all to themselves. He walked in, already loving the floors underneath his feet. That's when he noticed that there were three other people in the room, I recognized Hanji, and the leader, the beautiful boy that won the personal performance, but not the third man. He was tall and had really bushy eyebrows.
"Eren!!!" Hanji squealed, piercing the air, "You made it! You're a little early, but that's okay! I'm so glad! Right, Levi?!" She tackled the sixteen year old brunette in a huge hug. Said brunette staggered, surprised. But he hugged back all the same.
"Alright, four eyes. Drop him." He heard a sound as clear as an angels bell. As calming and cool as the night sky. Eren felt his heart skip so many beats, that he was almost sure Levi needed to give him CPR. Hanji finally let go of the boy, still smiling. He stepped forward, looking at Eren closely, "you're the dancer. The one from the Cadets." He nodded mutely, and Levi continued, "you're alright from the small movements I can see. Show me what you've got. Any song you want to dance to, or do you have a preference?"
He thought for a moment, before a song by Skillet came to mind, "Er... Yeah, I have a personal favorite." Eren took is phone out, and showed Hanji the song choice. Hanji nodded enthusiastically, and took it, plugged it into their sound system, and pressed play.
The second the song started, Eren felt calm, the nervousness fading from his system, and he started to move.
The second Eren stopped, the second the song finished it's last note, Hanji clapped enthusiastically. "That was awesome! I knew you were good, but not that good!!! Right, Shorty?!" She turned to the raven, who was staring at Eren intensely.
"Eren Jaeger, correct?" Levi said, stepping towards him, Eren nodded, "Well then Eren, how would you like to join the Survey Corps?" Eren stood in surprise, while Levi kept talking, "you don't have to answer right away, but think about it." He started to walk away, out the door.
"Wait!" Eren got out, "I want to join."
Levi turned back to him, and said, "Congratulations, you are an official member of the Survey Corps."
