Levi opened his eyes, noticing that he was in his bed. This was a rare occurrence for him, he didn't really sleep, and when he did, it was in his chair.
The next thing he noticed was that there was cold metal pressing on his wrist, and that he wasn't alone.
Right next to him was Cadet Eren Jeager, out cold, softly snoring.
"What the Fu-" Levi half snapped, trying to get out of the bed.
That was when the realization hit him. As he pulled away, Eren's arm got dragged with him, forcing the raven to acknowledge the four foot chain that was connecting them.
Eren jerked awake from the sudden motion. "Wh-what? Uh, sir!" He attempts to salute, pulling Levi forward almost on top of him.
After a few seconds of them both struggling, they got situated, Levi, of course, glaring at Eren. Eren looking nervous, confused as to why he was chained to the captain.
"Uh, Heichou? Why am I..."
"Shut it, Brat. I'm thinking." Levi said, glaring at him like always. There were only so few possibilities of how they ended up like this.
Levi felt like an idiot. How did he have to think about this? There was only one person either of them knew that was devious and stupid enough to pull this off. "Hanji." He growled. And stormed off, dragging a yelping Eren behind him, involuntarily.
Luckily they only ran into Armin, who gave them a sympathetic smile, but seemed like he knew what was going on. Eren had to convince Levi not to kill the blond coconut for the information. The captain wasn't sure why he was listening to the Cadet, but did.
Once the struggling pair finally made it to Hanji's lab, Levi knocked loudly, making Eren worry the door would break or fall, or something.
Hanji opened the door, "Yes, Captain Levi?" Sickly sweet. She was definitely playing innocent, and Levi wasn't standing for it.
"What the heck, Hanji?!" Levi demanded, pushing himself passed her, Eren almost getting hit by the door.
"Is something wrong...?" Hanji asked, grinning.
Levi raised an eyebrow, and lifted his arm, causing Eren's arm to raise with it, "what is THIS."
"Oh! Are you two tied up together? I didn't even notice! I mean, I don't know HOW this could've happened..." she laughs, smiling guiltily. "But you guys should make the best of it. Levi, now you can learn how to be kind to Eren!"
Levi glared at her, making Hanji only slightly shrink back. "unlock. Us. Now." He hissed through gritted teeth.
"Sorry Levi! No can do! I have to find the key first. I kinda lost it. But that's okay! I'll find it. In the meantime, go about business as usual!" Hanji gave them an almost evil grin, and pushed them out, slamming the door behind the pair.
Eren swallowed, "now what, Sir?"
Heichou sighed and started walking, forcing Eren to walk beside him so he didn't trip, "we figure out how to make this stupid thing work.
That's where things got difficult.
They somehow had to get dressed. But was only able to manage changing their dirty pants to clean ones.
Levi was irritated at the fact that he couldn't take a shower until after all this was over.
And the worst part was that they now had to eat in front of the entire corps, while handcuffed together. Levi could barely manage eating with his left hand. Lucky him that that's exactly what he now had to do.
Eren and Levi sat down together, Eren wanting to sit next to his friends.
The cadets of the 104th class stared at the peculiar pair that was struggling to eat.
"Stop it." Levi snapped at Eren after a while. The raven was attempting to eat with his dominant hand, that was chained to Eren's less dominant hand.
Eren was using his left hand to hold his spoon, his right holding his fork. "I'm sorry! It's not my fault that your arms are unnaturally as short as you." To be fair, the brunet was getting pretty sick of this himself.
Levi glared at him. If looks could kill, Eren would be dead and decaying. "Repeat that."
Eren's eyes widen in fear, and he quickly puts his hands up in surrender apologetically.
If only they weren't handcuffed, and it would've worked. Too bad they were, and the motion propelled Levi straight into his breakfast plate.
They entire dinner hall went silent as Eren gasped in horror. "I'm so sorry!!! I- never- I mean. I forgot- I didn't mean-"
"Shut up." Levi half snarled, "shut up and help me clean this awful stuff up." Eren nodded and pulled out some napkins from his pocket that he had learned to carry with him, and started to gently help Levi clean his face.
After most of it was cleaned off, Heichou still fuming, they abandoned they're breakfast, and went back to Levi's office.
Levi and Eren sat close together, Levi doing paperwork while Eren read a book he found.
Despite their situation, they almost found comfort in the position they found. Levi had always been a little touch starved, though he'd never admit it, and loved the light feathery contact that Eren provided.
Eren had started to day dream instead of reading, causing himself to rub little circles on Levi's hand and arm.
Funnily enough, neither of them seemed to mind the peaceful contact.
And as the night went on, Eren and Levi shared more casual touches and talked a little bit more, not realizing exactly how close they were starting to become.
As they continued to talk in hushed voices about the stupid little things, Eren started to get sleepy, yawning every few sentences. But surprisingly enough, it wasn't him that fell asleep first.
Eren was in the middle of telling Levi why it was important to know what your spirit animal was, when he felt a head land softly on his shoulder. The younger one paused in his speech, and looked over to his captain.
Levi looked so vulnerable sleeping, his face slightly softer than when he's awake, but still had a trace of a glare and frown.
A few minutes of studying the raven, and Eren picked Levi up gently, and carried him into his room, narrowly escaping hitting Levi's head in the door frame.
After a bit of maneuvering, Eren lied Levi down, and took off the captain's boots, then his own.
Eren layed himself down to where they were in the exact position as that morning, falling into a deep sleep himself.
They woke up the next morning closer to each other, half cuddling. When Eren had tried to move away, Levi only growled and pulled him closer, muttering about how much easier it was like this with the handcuffs.
Too bad neither of them realized that they had been unlocked by Armin and Hanji in the middle of the night.
Or at least, Eren didn't.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Armin had something to do with it. Hanji shipped them, and Armin was sick of all of Eren's pinning and whining about how he'll never be noticed by Levi as anything more than a titan shifting soldier. So Armin and Hanji worked together. Not that Armin would tell Eren he had a part to play in all this.
