We all stand on a roof, watching the city descend into chaos as strange black matter flies through the city, destroying buildings and shattering windows as it glides down its path.
Jacob is the first to speak about the Obscurial, questioning if it is what Newt had mentioned earlier.
"That's more powerful than any Obscurial I have ever heard of..." Newt seems to be speaking to himself, yet it's loud enough for everyone to hear and understand him.
The city below us is burning away. Newt turns to me, tossing his case perfectly into my hands, a small leather bound journal accompanying it. "If I don't come back, look after my creatures. Everything you need to know is in there." Tears threaten to form in my eyes as Newt goes to sacrifice himself without a second though, giving his creatures to someone he trusts in the process. Giving his creatures to me instead of any of the others.
"You're not going on your own," I set down his case carefully, at Queenies feet. I place my hand on his shoulder, giving him a small smile, letting him know I never plan to leave him.
"We're not going to let them kill it," he half-whispers to me. I nod, and together we disapparate, Tina following.
When we land on our feet, we are all met with disaster. Buildings are burning and the scent of a wooden fire wafts down the streets, a wonderful smell during a terrible time. People, no-majes and witches and wizards, all scrambling around the city in horror. Cars are piled up and empty, a few burning and broken.
However, none of us do anything except watch. We watch as Graves is shouting to the Obscurial using a name I vaguely remember. "To survive so long, with this inside you Credence, is a miracle. You are a miracle. Come with me--think of what we could achieve together," as he spoke, my brain but all the puzzle pieces together.
The Obscurus, now known to be Credence, inched its way closer and closer to Graves. The mass of Dark energy screams, bursting out and knocking Graves to the ground. Whatever Graves did to Credence must have cause him to become the Obscurus, angering him and pushing him over the edge.
The force the Obscurus had let out sends a shockwave through the area we stood, Newt, Tina and I all diving for cover in separate places.
Tina and I both look to Newt, "It's the Second Salem boy. He;s the Obscurial," the poor boy.
"He's not a child," Tina's voice holds concern for the boy, as he held the dark force in him much longer than ever documented.
The two keep bickering--well not bickering, more like coming to a conclusion. "I know--but I saw him00his power must be so strong--he's somehow managed to survive. It's incredible."
Credence screams again, I can hear his voice, I can hear his distress. I cover my ears, trying not to focus on the clear pain he's in. "Newt! Save him." Tina came up with this idea once she heard his scream.
Tina runs towards Graves, as a distraction. Newt apparates, knowing what he must do. I continue clenching my head until the piercing noise settles down. I feel useless at the moment, but I soon apparate into the Subways for cover, yet I am still trying my best to help., searching for where the commotion is.
Tina fought Graves--in a sense. She distracted him well, yet she put herself into danger.
I must have picked the perfect place to apparate too, as the action soon came straight to me. I had a small gut feeling that my presence may have guided the Obscurial as I had known Credence when he was younger.
I tried to give him food and help him through the clear torture he went through while I was still in school. I grew a motherly protectiveness for the boy, I could only hope that he felt it too, leading him to comfort in his final despair. I knew this most-likely wasn't the case, yet I could still hope.
The largest reason for him to dive into the Subway was probably because less people were there, it was a way to escape.
Newt soon joins me in the Subway. He and I can hear the Subway breaking apart. Newt starts creeping down the platforms, I follow suite.
Newt and I are no longer the only people in the Subway, many Aurors had surrounded the entrance and started making their ways in.
We finally reached Credence, who was now much calmer, which surprised me, I didn't know an Obscurial could calm down. Together, Newt and I stand behind some pillars, and Newt tries speaking to Credence, wishing to save him better than he could the little girl.
"Credence..." he starts, "It's Credence, isn't it? I'm here to help you, Credence. I'm not here to hurt you." I can hear footsteps, slow and paced, clearly being controlled and thought about deeply to be able to move.
Newt moves from behind the pillar and steps onto the train tracks. I peak from my hiding spot, seeing the Obscurus with the shadow of Credence facing Newt, a scared and small look on his face.
Newt keeps talking, "I've met someone just like you, Credence. A girl--young girl who'd been imprisoned, she had been locked away and she'd been punished for her magic," he was clearly upset talking about the little girl, his voice being slightly choked up." There was a small pause, then Credence left his Obscurial state and was huddles on the train tracks. He was a frightened child. "Credence, can I come over to you? Can I come over?"
Newt tries to move forward, but as he does, a spell strikes him, throwing him backwards. I rush to his side, but not fast enough as Graves had marched down and continued firing spells, aimed for Newt. Newt tries to fight back, but his spells are deflected.
I make a rash decision to not fight with magic, I instead become my animagus form and race for Graves, trying to steal his wand.
I watch as a train comes, nearly hitting Credence, but Graves saves him.
Graves continues standing on a platform, still battling with Newt. I stretch my wings and shoot to the ceiling, until gliding down and snatching Graves' wand, but not soon enough. Graves had blasted Newt into the air and started torturing.
I was burning with rage. I stole his wand, then stood before him, ready for my time to duel.
