Fantastic (Newt Scamander X Reader)

Valentine's day AU

*this is not part of the story*

I stood beside newt as he and I look at our new child, as he likes to call it.

We had just found a Thestral and Newt was determined to meet it. I stared at him, an astonished look on my face as he went forward and put him hand on its beak.

He pet the creature, calming it down until it laid down in the ground, where Newt showered it with love. "Is he always like this?" A croaky voice, dry and tired, filled the air. To Newt, it must have sounded like squawking.

"Yes, but you learn to love it," I reply.

"What's he saying!" Newt asks.

"Why don't you see for yourself," I put my hand on his shoulder and he could soon hear the voice of the Thestral. Newt and the creatures had a conversation, until finally Newt convinced the beast to join him in his case.

"It's so lovely to get a new child for the family!" I laugh at his antics. He's very charismatic once you can get him to open up to you.

"You do know what today is, right? Or have you forgotten?" I ask. He looks dumbfounded for a split second before realising what day it is. It's Valentine's Day, and our first Valentine's Day together.

"Yes! And I have a surprise for you. Close your eyes," I obey, covering my eyes with my hands.

After a few moments of shuffling around, Newt allows me to open my eyes. I stare at him while he dances the mating dance that made me laugh months ago.

I laugh, a smile forming on my lips. "So is it working?" He jokes. I nod, then run up to hug him.

"Anything you do works on me, dork." I place a kiss on his lips and smile at the man who captured my heart.

"You know," he starts, "I'm so thankful you're in my life." He wraps his arms around me as we sit on the ground. "Without you, I don't know where I'd be right now. You give me the motivation to go out and search every day. With you by my side, I know I can do anything. You've helped me so much in my quest to save animals, and get the general public to not fear them. I honestly don't know what I'd do without you." Once he finishes, I look up to him and place a kiss on his chin.

"I could say the same thing for you. Without you I may have never found some of the extraordinary dragons, you have some of the best tracking skills I've ever seen. You compel the animals with your love, but I guess it works on me too. You've blessed my life, thank you for allowing me to be apart of yours."

After we gush our feelings for each other, we lock lips and spend the rest of our day planning and executing a small dinner for the two of us under the stars.

I'm so glad Newt is the man I love, as he is my everything. He loves me for who I am, and all my quirks. He appreciates all the crazy things I do, and how crazy I am. He is simply perfect.
