She said yes. I couldn't believe it. She actually said yes! Zaynub was my soon-to-be bride In Shaa Allah (If God wills it). I was full of delight. I just gained one a heck of a girl. Thank you, Allah. Thank you so much.
Currently Amir and I were sitting down on the couch chatting. Our parents started planning the wedding with Laila. Laila was my nineteen year old sister. She loved weddings, so she was helping us plan it. All I could think about was Zaynub. That was until Amir snapped his fingers in front of my face.
"Hey, lover boy. Pay attention to the conversation," he grinned as if knowing what I was thinking about.
"What? I didn't do anything. Why are you looking at me like that?," I slowly questioned while narrowing my eyes at him.
"You're thinking about Zaynub, aren't you?" he said while wiggling his eyebrows. "Don't deny it too. I know that look on your face. You're a love sick puppy."
My eyes went wide. Dang, this guy is a mind reader.
"No I'm not a mind reader," he laughed.
"Creeper," I muttered.
He slapped my shoulder. "Oh shut up. I was in that exact position when I was arranged to get married to Noorah. Trust me having a wife is a struggle, especially if she's pregnant," he winked at Noorah while she just gasped.
"I am not a struggle. Men just don't understand anything about women," she huffed.
"Says the moody one," Amir countered back while rolling his eyes.
Noorah stuck her tongue out at him. Amir just laughed and brought her to his chest.
"I'm just kidding. You know I love you," he smiled.
"I love you too," she said as she pecked him on the cheek.
"My poor eyes. I don't want to see this now!" I exclaimed dramatically while covering my eyes
Noorah shook her head and walked over to Laila.
"Wait till you get a wife," he chuckled.
The truth was I wanted my life with Zaynub to be just like Amir and Noorah. Amir and I just started talking about work, sports, and debated on various subjects. We used to be on the debate team. As we were in the middle of an extremely controversial topic, we heard a high pitched scream, scaring both of us.
Amir and I jumped out of our seats and ran up the stairs. There was Zaynub. She was grabbing her leg and her face was twisted in pain. Seeing her in pain made my heart hurt. It was like I could feel her pain as well.
"Zaynub," I whispered.
Then she fainted.
"I'll go grab an ice pack," Noorah said before she ran downstairs.
Amir picked Zaynub up bridal style and brought her to her room. He gently put her on the bed and started examining her leg.
"I know what's wrong," Amir said after several minutes.
"What is it then?" I asked.
"Remember her accident?" he sighed.
I nodded my head.
"The doctor said that since her leg was injured so bad, she would be getting a lot of pain from it for walking a lot," he said while tracing Zaynub's face.
He looked at her with such love. Amir was truly the ideal older brother image. The way he traced her features so carefully. It was as if he were afraid he would hurt her. That was when Noorah came with an ice pack.
