Life is Hard

Chapter 3

Rue's POV

After the sunset I go home. I keep thinking to myself what a jerk Josh is. And poor Laura with her life so bad already. Man I want to destroy Josh for hurting Laura.

I reach my house and realize my fists are clenched tight. I let my hands relaxed and take deep breathes. Only when I'm calm I open the door to the house to see my mom and dad in the family room watching TV.

"Hey R.J." my dad says. He calls me that sometimes along with Jackson, my twin brother. Dad and I call Jackson J.R. short for Jackson Robert.

"Hey dad," I reply. Looking at the time I add, "I think I'm going to bed now." They both nod and I give them both hugs then head to my room upstairs. I was exhausted. I changed into my pj's and passed out on my bed instantly.

In the morning I wake up to the smell of pancakes and French toast. I jump out of bed and run downstairs.

Jackson's already down there and his first comment to me is, "Your hair's a mess." I almost slap him but my mom tells me not to. I have anger issues sometimes.  

I grab a stack of pancakes and some French toast. The sugar and the maple syrup are on the table so I sit down. Grabbing the maple syrup I making a pool of it on my plate next to my pancakes and take the French toast and soak it all up then bite into it. The sticky syrup is covering my face, even a little in my hair, and is dripping from the corners of my mouth. Jackson bursts out laughing and I crack a smile trying not to laugh and spit out my food.

I start to wipe off all the syrup with my hands but my mom yells, "Get a wet paper towel to wipe your face!"

"Sorry!" I get up and get a paper towel and get it damp. I look at myself in the mirror and wipe off my face then sit back down taking the damp towel with me.

After finishing my breakfast I go to to my room to change. It's a Friday so I still have to go to school. I change into a random t-shirt (U.S.A. soccer I think) and some basketball shorts. I grab my phone to text Laura and Maggs.

Me: Hey Laura. Hey Maggs.

Laura: Hey.

Maggs: Hey

Me: So what are you guys up to?

Laura: The usual.

Maggs: Food.

Me: Okay well got to go get ready for school. Bye see you at school.

Laura: Bye

Maggs: Bye

After I finish brushing my teeth and putting up my hair I get all my stuff for school and say good bye to my parents.

"Bye R.J. Love you. Have a good day at school," my dad says while hugging me.

"Bye dad," I reply. Then I turn to my mom. "Bye mom." I hug her, too.

"Bye sweety. Love you." I say one last goodbye as me and Jackson walk out of the door to our bus stop.
