Chapter XIX The Truth Hurts

There are only two more weeks of camp before summer.  Campers will start to come or leave for summer starting in a week.  Of course Alex is staying, since he is not allowed to leave.   Miles is also staying since the only family he has is Alex.  Carly is going to be staying with her sister for the summer.   Mikayla managed to stay in contact with her brother and is going to spend the summer with him and his adoptive parents.  Miles is busy helping Carly pack and get ready to leave.  Mikayla is already packed and just walking through the camp looking for Alex.  Alex and Mikayla have gotten really close, but still aren't official yet.   Mikayla wants to have that talk with Alex before she leaves.  She sees Amy walking up to her with a smirk on her face.

"Amy" Mikayla says as she glares at Amy. "Girlfriend stealer" Amy replies. Mikayla rolls her eyes and says, "For the hundredth time you left her. What do you want anyway?" Amy just smirks and ask, "What do you know about project A?"  Mikayla has a confused look on face and asks, "Project A? What are you talking about?"  Amy has a faked shocked expression on her face and says in a mock concerned voice, "She hasn't told you then."  "Told me what" ask Mikayla not phased at this point.  Amy's evil smirk returns to her face and she says "Project A is short for project Asher. That name sound familiar?  Mikayla is now trying to keep it together and asks "Wha-what are you saying?"  Amy knows that she is getting to Mikayla and ask "Why don't you go ask her yourself?"  Mikayla says "I will. Whatever lie you-"  Amy laughs and says, "Not a lie, just the truth."  "Whatever" Mikayla says and walks away.   Amy says, "We will see, we will see."

After searching for Alex, Mikayla finally finds her at the beach just lying on the sand.  She approaches her.  Alex looks up and smiles.  Alex says, "Hey Mika, there's something I really need to tell you."  Mikayla says, "Good because there is something I need to know."  "Are you ok" asks Alex.  Mikayla sits down next to Alex.   Alex sits up and looks at Mikayla.  Alexasks, "Did I do something wrong?"  "I don't know, why don't you tell me" responds Mikayla.  Alex says, "I would tell you if I knew what you were talking about. Is this about the talk we need to have?"  Mikayla replies, "No."  Alex looks confused and asks, "Ok, what is it then?"  Mikayla asks, "What's project A?"  Alex says, "Let me guess, Amy told you about it."  "Why did she tell me and not you" asks Mikayla. 

Alex says, "Mika, I wanted to, I was just scared that I would loose you."  Mikayla asks, "Why was it named project Asher?"  Alex asks, "Remember when I mentioned I went on a mission when I was ten?"  "Ya, what about it" asks Mikayla.  Alex says in a whisper, "I was sent on that mission to...to...to kill your parents."  Mikayla is quiet for a few seconds then asks in a whisper, "You killed my parents?"  Alex says, "I was told they were helping the enemy and needed to be dealt with.  I'm so sorry Mika, you don't know how much I regret that."  Mikayla face is unreadbale and asks, "How long have you known?"  "Since the day me and Miles rescued you" answers Alex.  Mikayla explodes and says, "You knew this whole time!  And didn't think to tell me?"  Alex says, "I'm so so so sorry Mika."  Mikayla says, "I'm done Alexis.  I never want to see you again."  Mikayla runs off, tears streaming down her face.  Alex sits there shocked, then breaks out in tears.  Off in the distance, a pair of eyes watched the scene unfold before them.  They smirk and walk off while pulling out a phone and talking into it.
