Chapter XXXIV Preparations And Searching

It has been three months.  Mikayla made it back to Camp Half Blood a week after Alex was taken on the boat.  On that day Amy vanished and has not been seen or heard from since.  Since that day, demigods have been going missing right and left.  After Mikayla, Miles, and Carly filled Chiron in on everything they knew and what had happened, Chiron sent out several search parties for Alex and Amy.  Only one search party returned three weeks later.  Chiron then sent out a message for all remaining demigods to get to Camp Half Blood as soon as possible.  All campers were out on lock down.

Everyone has been training extra hard.  Patrols along the border have been doubled.  Every camper based on who there parent is has been given a specific role.  Athena kids have been coming up with different strategies and plans.  Ares kids have been training campers to fight.  Apollo kids are teaching campers archery.  Hephaestus kids have been making more weapons and armor.  Hermes kids have been setting up traps along the border.  Just to name a few.

Mikayla keeps blaming herself for what happened on the ship.  She blames herself for Alex being taken hostage.  She is heart broken.  She cries herself to sleep each night.  She has barely eaten or slept since she got back.  She throws herself in trying to find Alex to help with the guilt.  She has cut herself off from everyone, but Miles and Carly.  She has taken over the Poseidon cabin and Chiron has given up on telling her she can't stay in the cabin.

Miles was devastated when Mikayla told him what happened.  Alex was the only family he had left.  Ever since he lost his parents, Alex was always there for him.  For the first couple of weeks he blamed Mikayla for Alex being taken hostage.  Then Carly made him see that it wasn't her fault, that it was Alex's fatal flaw of being extremely loyal.  That Alex would do it for anyone that she cared about.  Miles went and apologized to Mikayla.  As the weeks past he saw Mikayla mental and physical state get worse.  He tried to be there for her as much as possible.  He kept looking for Alex.  He made a vow on the River of Styx that who ever took Alex would pay.

Carly was in shock when she heard what had happened.  That Alex was taken hostage by the enemy and that Amy betrayed everyone.  She had to be there for her devastated boyfriend and a technical step sister.  After she made Miles realize that it wasn't her fault, she would spend hours with Mikayla every day, trying to make her feel better and realize it wasn't her fault.  While helping Miles and Mikayla figure out where Alex was.

One thing was for sure, there was going to be a fight.  No one knew when it would start or when the enemy would come and they had to be prepared.  All they could hope for was the best and some miracle.
