Chapter XXIV What Does It Mean?

Alex and Mikayla are running through an underground tunnel while being chased by a horde of monsters.  They both are exhausted and hurt.  Mikayla is faring  far better than Alex is.  Mikayla has her sword in her sheath and her shield is all battered dented.  She has no helmet.  She is covered in dirt and blood.  She has a cut on her face and arm.  Alex and Mikayla are holding hands while they run, so that they don't get separated.  Alex's helmet has a huge dent on the right side and slash mark on the top, running down the middle back of the helmet.  Alex's face is bruised and has multiple cuts.  Alex has a particular bad and deep cut running from her side and halfway around her stomach.  The cut starts mid chest area on left side and goes to almost halfway on stomach.  Her shirt where the cut is, is soaked with blood.  Alex is also covered in blood and dirt.

They continue to run because their lives depend on it.  The monsters seem to be getting slightly closer.  They see a light up ahead.  "Just a little further" Alex says breathing hard.  Mikayla says also breathing hard, "We aren't going to make it."  They continue to run anyways.  They reach the light and see that marks the end of the tunnel.  They see a boat in the distance.  "Come on" Alex says as she drags Mikayla.  They do a combination of running and sliding down the side of what appears to be a mountain or maybe a big hill.  They come to the end and slide to a stop.  It is a cliff and they only have two option.  Option one, they can stay and fight.  They can take their chances with the monsters and hope for the best.  Or option two, they can jump and hope just for the best. 

They still have some time before the monsters catch them.  They take the opportunity to catch their breaths and decide what they want to do.  "No, this can't be, after everything" says Mikayla.  Alex looks at Mikayla.  Alex says, "We have to jump Mika."  "Are you crazy Alec" asks Mikayla and after a couple of seconds says, "Never mind, don't answer that."  Alex ignores what Mikayla said and asks, "Do you trust me Mika?"  "Of course I do Alec" Mikayla says without any hesitation.  "Then you have to trust me right now and jump" Alex says.  "Ok" Mikayla says.

Alex struggles a little and manages to get her helmet off her head.  She takes off the rest of her armor and throws it to the side.  Mikayla looks at her.  "Its basically useless to me, if we do get back to camp with it, they would just scrap it.  Besides in case something happens, I won't have the armor to weigh me down" says Alex.  Mikayla proceeds to take off all her armor and her shield.  She keeps her sword.  Alex asks, "ready?"  "Ready as I'll ever be" replies Mikayla.  They run and leap off the cliff just as the monsters get to them.

As they are falling, Alex hears someone yelling at them and they sound familiar, but she can't place why.  "You imbeciles" the person screams, "You were suppose to capture them!"  Alex and MIkayla fall into water.  Alex takes a deep breath as her eyes fly open and she falls out of her chair.  She is covered in sweat and is breathing hard.  After she calms down, she looks at herself and see that she is fine.  She sees Mikayla peacefully sleeping.  She looks at the clock and sees that it is six am.  "What did that dream mean and who was that person" Alex asks herself.
