Today, when Jasmine entered the coffee shop; it was extremely packed. Nerves suddenly shot throughout her body as she imagined herself performing in front of this huge crowd. However, she shook it off as she reminded herself that she has performed in many poetry slams before. Once her turn arrived, she turned her gaze towards Brooke and begin to recite her poem.
She
"She is the words to my story.
The lighting to my storm.
Yet to her,
I'm probably nothing at all.
She is as fragile as glass.
I have so many things I wish to say,
But I can't find the right day,
To tell her about the feelings that I have at bay.
For her.
I'm scared she might run away,
If I were to confess my feelings.
And I would be left to suffer an insufferable pain.
Because what's a story without words
....
Nothing.
And I would be nothing too
Without her..."
After Jasmine finished reading her poem out loud, she removed her intense gaze away from Brooke to thank the audience. Just as she dare to flicker her gaze back at Brooke, all hope deflated from her at once. The sight before her eyes tugged at her heartstrings. Brooke was staring at her phone with a smile that was grudging familiar. That's the smile she gives every time she was talking to "her" or thinking about "her". With that in mind, she walked off the stage with a cool demeanor. As she brushed passed Brooke to leave, she couldn't help to clench her jaw and walk with a stiff posture after brushing against her arm. She had to keep her composer until she exited because all she really wanted to do was grab her and never let her go.
Brooke waited five seconds before she turned around. She didn't want Jasmine to know that she intentionally brushed herself against her to gauge her reaction, and it was a good thing too considering she didn't look too happy with her touch as she storms out the shop.
